Dark days for radio. We are now a far cry away of the days what inspired me, in the late 90s and early 00s. I know things move on but this also lessens the chance for the next gen of radio superstars to work their way up. Ofcom are taking the shackles off. Well let's say they were basically tied to the wall beforehand. From stations running a community licence. Hopefully the talent can shine and develop there. -
With all none reginal shows now moving to London surly Global are running out of studio space? Wonder if we will see new studio? Even Global move to a new HQ?

https://radiotoday.co.uk/2025/01/global-introduces-new-nations-strategy-and-drops-local-and-regional-shows-in-england/ I thought it would be worth a thread of it's own to give thoughts on Global's strategy, whether it's in agreement/disagreement, who will host the new national shows. I feel for those who have lost their jobs, some of which have been on the air over 20 years however.. they will have probably been aware that this would have happened before long. The writing was on the wall when they axed the regional breakfast shows. Going forwards, does anyone reckon they will just expand the existing London drive shows on Heart/Capital and breakfast on Smooth? They pretty much did that with Roman Kemp and Jamie Theakston when breakfast went national. I can definitely see Jenni Faulkner on Smooth breakfast and JK & Kelly Brook on Heart drive, although I think they might eye up changes for Capital's drive show. -
This has now been updated. OJ is on breakfast, but Victoria is in for Jeremy, and Richie is covering the afternoon show.

Interesting choice & someone going Bauer to BBC rather than the other way round! She’s been on Magic and covered Fleur East’s Maternity on Hits. -
