Controversy in the Surgery tent today at the Big Weekend - Aled revealed he'd got back with his ex after a month or so of separation. There were plenty of gasps all round as Sara Cox had just said "never go back" to old flames. But at least we'll hear less of poor ol'depressed Aled :)

I honestly don't think he has been particularly miserable re. his breakup, at least not on air. I've been very impressed by his self restraint actually, especially as Moyles has brought it up on numerous occasions for comedic content on the show.

If getting back togther with Emile makes him happy, that's all for the good.:)

PS. Fingers crossed for you John. Hope all goes well.

Let's be honest I bet 9 out of 10 people would go back to their ex.

Well, mine's now gay so that's a definite no for me. But congrats to Aled, hope things work out better this time.

I think he's a fool to go back. I don't know anyone who's broken up and got back together again who've ultimately ended up together. Also, if I was one of his friends who'd had to comfort/support him, listen to him go on endless about how terrible he was feeling, and tell him 'he's a pig who doesn't deserve you anyway' etc. then I'd be very peed off to find out that was all an unnecessary waste of time. If I knew someone who's done what Aled is doing then I'd make it clear to them that next time they got dumped they'd be on their own. Life is much too short for pointless emotional dramas.

Plus there's a humilation factor there, given that Aled made it clear to everyone that he was the dumpee, dumped because his bf had 'fallen out of love with him', so the fact that he's run back to him makes it look like he's so desperate to be with him that he'll let his bf treat him as badly as he wants and he'll still come crawling back. I don't post much on here, and this is my longest post to date, but being quite an unemotional person myself I get so wound up over the idiotic things people can do when they're blinded by emotions/love.

I do tend to agree with a lot of that actually, in most cases there's a reason why things didn't work out the first time round, and if you get back with your ex you run the risk of having the same problems come up yet again and going through an even messier break-up than the one before. Having said that, it is Aled's decision at the end of the day so I wish him all the best.

Hmm, I do. They're now married, with a child and another one on their way.

We had a child, then 9months later it went wrong. Like i say, I'm hoping it can be sorted. I miss her, and my son. Hopefully, like in the case of your friends, we can make it work and maybe then, who knows, marriage and more children. Would be nice

At the end of the day, its life and its also Aled Choice.

Aled will be comfortable with his ex and that will have drawn him back even more, and possibly love (but who knows! - don't want to get all soppy).

A break can sometimes do people good, but I do think they have a stange relationship. The whole relationship night at his age is funny.

Well, of course, it can always go wrong, but I should have said that they look extremely happy together, and always have.

The weird thing is, one of my ex-Uni colleagues dumped his boyfriend recently and used every Facebook status to bitch about his ex and say how it's his mistake etc etc, and about a week later they got back together and his Facebook was suddenly bare except for pictures of the two together and I just thought "oh, human beings, why must you be so stupid?"

gay or straight, it dosen't matter about sexuality. because let's face it, no-one is anyone without a boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife. just like i've had the 'pleasure' of finding out latley.

OH how I wish you were wrong...

O dear, I do hope it works out better the second time around!! I think Aled had stated in the past his ex didn't show a lot of emotion... Aled kind of strikes me as the type that would need a lot of emotion somehow, so I do hope they can sort any stuff out!! Sometimes a break from anyone can work wonders sometimes.

Not necessarily. I've been in relationships with people as emotional as me and they failed miserably. The general rule of thumb is to not put two people with high maintenance and almost narcissistic tendancies together. In that respect, as frustrating as it may be, it's probably good to have that balance.

    • It's amazing how stable that slot has been over the past 20 years - 3 presenters only. By comparison, the previous 20 years seen 8 or 10 presenters depending how you measure it.  (Whether you treat Kevin and Zoe as separate to Zoe and whether you count Mark Goodier's 4 months on Breakfast as more than just cover).
    • On July 8th Greg will surpass Grimmy's tenure on Radio 1 breakfast (5 years, 319 days) as the second-longest breakfast show presenter. He has already passed Tony Blackburn and Sim Mayo. I'm not sure if he will make Moyles' record of 8 years, 253 days, but he certainly still seems fresh and full of ideas!
    • I guess we'll have to wait and see when the new schedule kicks in, although I could see Scott staying where he is.  Assuming that's the case and there are no other moves, there would be several available studios for Matt & Mollie - 82C or 82E of the 'old' studios, and 82M or 82N of the new ones.
    • The BBC commissioning brief mentions it is a 'mid morning show' for Radio 1 Dance https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radio/documents/comm_brief_r1_dance_morning_show.pdf
    • Nothing to apologise about, I was just intrigued on how DS and UM react
    • I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!
    • That’s two names who probably won’t be doing that slot permanently then.
    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
