April Fuels Day

The Chris Moyles show April Fools gag was one of the least funny things I have heard in a long time. In the current climate, particularly with fuel price increases being announced in the news today, I don't find it very amusing to laugh at people who are taken in by an apparently genuine offer endorsed by a BBC national radio station. And to make them call in and waste their money- even worse.

Oh come on, the massive clue was in the title and the fact that you had to phone up for it was a big hint. Plus Aled was taking the calls instead of one of the people that they have for it.

Was obvious to me anyway. I found it hilarous that so many people fell for it! :heh:

Oh lighten up Kitty :P I'm quite the opposite to your thinking. I think in troublesome times we should making light of the situation like with Chris' show this morning. I mean we didn't get through the war for taking offence to jokes about it... I mean World War 2 - not the Iraq war...

It was OK, I think it would have been nice if they had not done anything for it.

I hate the whole April Fools thing, it annoys me.

Humbug 'n' all that..... Damn right!

I loved the clips of the people calling in after 8, I'm going to listen again later because I found them so funny. And aren't all april fools jokes meant to be about taking amusement from people believing silly things or playing pranks. It's not that bad.

I had found it wildly amusing, especially the guy who called the Gang members something rhyming with truckers - God!!

I'm a world of insulted by these posts!

No, I didn't belive it- I heard them talking about it the day before and figured they were gonna be up to something...

With hindsight, I think I was just in a really bad mood that morning cos I heard it after showing in the dark cos my bathrooom bulb blew :(

    • The BBC commissioning brief mentions it is a 'mid morning show' for Radio 1 Dance https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radio/documents/comm_brief_r1_dance_morning_show.pdf
    • Nothing to apologise about, I was just intrigued on how DS and UM react
    • I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!
    • That’s two names who probably won’t be doing that slot permanently then.
    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
    • Echo what most have said here. Connor has great energy which is important for that sort of slot and the shame for him is that the dance line-up is so strong that there's no obvious 'in' for him to get a regular slot -Danny, Sarah, Pete Tong, Arielle, Charlie Hedges, Jerry and Charlie Tee are all great in their slots. A live show on Radio 1 Dance really feels the obvious way to get a proper foot in the door at Radio 1. Although to be fair to the DS critic I think it was just the one poster and can very much hear Connor in my head saying 'in for the legend that is Charlie Hedges'.
    • James Cusack is in for Jack on Friday 14th June, doing the chart while Jack is at Download.
    • I remember hearing Amy first on Scotts show and she was great on that, the daft quiz questions always made me smile. It's really nice to see the hard work has paid off for them all.
