Apart from Sara going to 1 day from January, this looks good. I'm really looking forward to having her on daytime again for the rest of 2008.

It'll be weird having Annie sent back to evenings again after getting so used to her in the early slot. Looks like Sunday's are a long day for Grimmy too.

To be honest two of my two favorites on radio one were dave pearce and dick and dom. They are both leaving. Dave pearce has always been a great dj. Dick and dom lack a little cred but they both play great music. Sad loss to both.

I am surprised that greg james hasn't had a promotion. But chappers and dave are good fun.

Surely the music will stay the same? It wasn't them choosing it, it's unlikely they will change the format.

So much for them being the new JK and Joel. I mean, I know they were never touted as that, but they got rid of one laddish duo and brought in another, so it was kind of obvious what they were doing.

The fact that they've been sacked/are leaving after less than a year just makes me more annoyed that JK and Joel went.

I'm glad Nihal is moving as I think that slot will suit him down to the ground.

Shame about Sara only doing one day but she will be great on the Lie in and I've no doubt she'll be first choice day time cover.

I think I'll like Edith on the lie in as I don't mind her its just I'm not a fan of her show e.g. the movies.

Obviously nice to hear more Chappers and Dave.

Shame about Dick and Dom. I enjoyed listning to them and think the Lie In suited them. However I'm not sure if they were very popular and would never have suited daytime. Sad to see them go.

I've not heard Grimmy yet so can't judge. And shame Fearne or Reggie aren't going.

From their website -

Right!

We've had the best year at radio 1. Dream job, great people, wicked music, etc.

They wanted us to stay on but that would have meant taking on more days

which we just couldn't do because of this, that and the other.....and filming!

Sad stuff but at least we can say that we've worked at the worlds greatest radio station.

Cheers Radio 1 for an amazing year.

D n D.

P.S: Highlight = Zane V DicknDom.

I guess she's gutted her theory that Edith was a trooper and would be back full time before September was blown out of the water. Isn't coming back till October and isn't back full time till November ;)

It's a shame they didn't go further at Radio 1. They seem like internet geeks, I'd have liked UM to have got some sort of recognition from them. Hopefully they can return to the success of Da Bungalow. Although Are You Smarter is a great show too.

I find this very confuing - is it just me? Why make all these changes just for a few months at a time.

Im a little dissapointed that coxy only gets 3 hours a week - maybe its what she wanted? I hope she becomes the main cover presenter now. And why doesnt edith go back to her regular show? It doesnt look like they have announced cover for 2 months so will vernon and fearne continue to alternate?

The moves for Grimmy and Nihal seemed obvious, they are well regarded at Radio 1. In a way Annie has gone back to what she does best - specialist shows.

It all seems very confusing!!! but then im not supposed to know why tihngs are done i guess just here to listen!

Just reading Dick N Doms comments about staying on and how it would have meant taking on maore days - what do you think they where offered? Weekend Breakfast? Weekday Early Breakfast and Greg would have gone to Weekends 1-4pm over Nihal?

wow confusing schedule :D

to be honest I'm not surprised Dick and Dom are leaving, I never felt they fitted in with the rest of the station, thats not me being mean or anything, but I just thought that perhaps R1 wasn't the best place for them, or rather, Lie in wasn't the right slot. but I'm not surprised.

Grimmy getting weekend breakfast? excellent, hes slowly become one of my favourite DJs, bar the obvious one :P Sara cox and Edith back is also good news.

confusing but good I think :D

Just received a BBC Switch press release. It seems they're going to be up to the usual stuff on Radio 1 when Annie Mac returns. I didn't expect Grimmy to stay there until the evening though:

Annie Mac returns to Switch on Sunday nights on Radio 1 to co-host with Nick Grimshaw. The duo will bring teens the ultimate guide to the coolest things they are watching, playing, listening to and talking about. The show features big name guests every week, weekly contributions from LA gossip king Perez Hilton plus behind-the-scenes news and performances from TV show Sound. Regular features include ‘Confuse the teacher feature’ where listeners are encouraged to put a random word in their homework, and the now infamous ‘Let’s Sumo!’ where supermodel Agyness Deyn, Sadie Frost and Pixie Geldof have donned the sumo suit for a bout with Grimmy.

There will also be a live 'BBC Switch' event on the 12th October for Under 18s.

too right viv. they couldn't manage a p**s up in a brewery! who ever decided tv personalities should present radio 1 needs shooting. weekends now have no personality whatsoever and i find the presenters bland. they can't present for their life or work the equipment. then they want every poxy week off to work in america for some new television show.

I agree too Claire. What a pigging mess!

I've always maintained that Fearne has a face for telly, but not a personality for radio. I positively cringed during her interview with Will Ferrell the other day. Jeez! Anyone off of UM could have done a better job.

She did get out of control during that interview, laughing like a complete maniac.

I've got a biography out the library about her at the moment, which is quite interesting. I note though that there are people in it that say she just switches on the radio chirpy personality thing!

I keep thinking 'Greg's time will come' because every other early breakfast DJ was in that slot for several years. But what we forget is how hard he works. No other new DJ is creating blogs, going out and about to cross-promote events, and filling in for other DJs like that. For that he does deserve early promotion.

He is a country mile better than Nihal, Fearne and Reggie, Annie Mac (at day-time although she's still good) and in my opinion Edith.

    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
