The X Factor 2008

What annoying tripe this whole scenario is turning out to be.

I liked The X Factor, but it's just becoming ridiculous now. All of those stunts. First Louis Walsh walks off, then Sharon and Danni have an argument, Sharon goes on Graham Norton's show and makes it entertaining, and then they have an argument about pay, and now Sharon's left. Sharon wants Cheryl Cole to take over and she accepts. Now Danni is on about the new show being a "dream show".

Cheryl Cole is an annoying bint and I really hope she's not going to come across as arrogant like I think she will. At least Sharon provided entertainment.

Couldnt agree more. If this wasn't a family forum I would use lots of vulgar language to describe my passionate dislike for Cheryl Cole and the rest of Girls Aloud for that matter!

I really miss the childish banter Louis and Sharon had. The judges all seem to be so individual and hostile at the moment.

Some good laughs though tonight. Even the auditions on the Xtra Factor.

The sob stories are really pathetic though - I loved how one girl was 'doing it' for Bridgend. I'm sure it's a big place, I doubt she knew anyone suicidal!

And the girl with five kids at 26? How is that a sob story, her fault for getting up the duff at 13!

Haha, I was expecting that Bridgend girl to say that one of her friends/family committed suicide or something...

Pretty good mix of the talented and the severely deluded/insane tonight, hopefully it'll continue in the weeks to come.

So save the last dance

oh no, its not back again is it

every band/singer who has come from 'the x factor' has been crap, just because they sell some cd's doesn't mean they make good music, all the judges look for is what they can sell & no other reason than that, the only person who was different was Sharon who would just say what she actually thought & not tow the line laid out by Simon, & as for Cheryl she is only there for the ca$h just like Dannii what do they know about managing a singer/band they cannot even manage there own career's let alone anyone else's.

its just cheap crap telly like BB !

I am just watching last nights show now! OMG those boys that sung "Mysterious Girl" I had tears rolling down my face! Bless them!

That Austin as well, just Googled him cos I recognised him. He was in a band called 5boyz and did that E4 show "Boys will be Girls" and formed the band "The Honeytraps as part of the show! How come they didn't mention that?

I read Chris Park from "Phixx" auditioned, I hope he goes far cos I really liked him in "Popstars the Rivals". Oh dear, I think I officially watch far too much TV!!!!

You need to see the end of the show then. A set up I felt as I doubt Cheryl knew him after five years.

Ant and Deaf were my favourites. Louis' faces make the show for me.

That one was Nick Major, he was in Phixx too but it was Chris I liked. I was gutted he didn't get into One True Voice but then I think Phixx were actually a bit more successful! (If you can call it that).

As for not knowing him, I recognised him straight away  (before they said who he was) so I am sure Cheryl would have. Sarah went out with Mikey from Phixx so they must have all been in touch for a while? Surprised they didn't mention Phixx when they asked what he had been up to since Popstars The Rivals?!?!?!

Ant and Deaf were my favourites. Louis' faces make the show for me.

They were the ones I was crying laughing at!

I didn't like the whole thing where cheryl "couldn't judge" the guy from pop stars the rival. It was blatantly set up, do you honestly think she would recognize him after 6 years?

I think she would still recognise him, yeah. After all, she'll have spent about 8-10 weeks worth of auditions with him, plus when it was the girls singing live, the boys were sat in the audience and vice versa. So yeah, she'll have known who he was from seeing him perform and being in the same competition as him. As for not wanting to judge him, I can see 100% why she did that; you wouldn't want to break an old friend's dream, would you?

'I'm Francine, she's Nicola. Together we're Francine and Nicola! We're not sisters, we're twins.'

Bless them! I really hoped they wouldn't get through. We don't need another Samanda.

As for that last woman, I actually admired her scary personality. Although 'I'm not a number, I'm a human being' was rather cringey. I didn't think her performance was that bad either.

What about the freak show that was little and large? The one that looked very much like a woman.

Another very entertaining show! :)

    • Radio 1 at Parklife will be presented by Vicky and Nat. Nat is currently listed to present her usual Sunday show on that weekend but I imagine that will change and someone else will be doing it instead. The Radio 1 presenters at Download will be Daniel P Carter, Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton.
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky as well that day.
    • So the end of weekend afternoons this week - new show is July 1st.
    • Arielle is in for Greg on Monday 27th May.
    • He’s definitely gotten better and the show has sounded fine this week. I think it been at its best when it’s been Katie and Jamie or Vick and Katie. Vick and Jamie are ok together, but I do think the show sounds better when it’s Vick and Katie and therefore I still don’t really understand the point of the trio.    Jamie is, however, a lot better than Danny Beard!
    • The RAJAR coming on later this year reflecting later summer to autumn will be interesting to how it reflects Matt and Mollie in afternoons to the revised changes on radio 1’s new music slots and the schedule re-shuffling Radio 3 introducing a new slate of programmes. Then, later on this year have speech radio stations having domestic political coverage of the election but also America’s presidential election.
    • I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.  It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.  Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.
    • Agree with this. The anti-Jamie feeling was IMO quite influenced by the negativity around him replacing Jordan, since Jordan was exceptional and also universally loved. When people mention Danny and Jamie in the same sentence about bad hiring decisions I almost choke - Jamie may not be perfect but he's several leagues better than Danny already and has bags of potential. Danny is poor and has shown zero potential...
    • Jamie started 4 March, and the figures only going up to 31 March, so it isn't reliable. But it has shown the numbers have dropped in afternoons compared to last quarter. It looks like it's Capital's gain.
    • Do these audience figures reflect Jordan leaving and Jamie replacing him?
    • I think Jamie is really starting to settle into the role well. He comes across as really warm, and genuinely invested in the listeners when he’s talking to them which is nice. I think he’s building a really great relationship with Vicki and Katie too. His recent great company podcast is great too, where he has quite a deep chat with someone new each week. He’s clearly a very genuine person and I think he has some real potential.
    • Most probably. But do wonder what the future of the relax themed programmes will be when they officially wind down that service.
    • I think it's just to replace Wind Down presents... which was in that timeslot, and I'm guessing Chillout Anthems was just a buffer since it'll still be played at 06:00 on Sundays.
    • With listening on the U.K. for the industry in general it is good overall as most stations reach is on the up and shows radio to be more sustainable and stable outlet than linear televisions channels. This RAJAR I think with the increase shift to DAB+ the BBC will be able to say it has it’s audiences for the proposed new stations it wishes to launch and think the new innovative ideas that it seems Jack himself can take credit for on the new music show think the younger under 30 gen z demographic could increase se in that time-slot.
    • Conor Knight is in for Sam & Danni on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June. It's Radio 1 at Parklife, 13.00-16.00 on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June. Matt & Mollie are in for Greg from Monday 10th to Friday 14th June - it's just Matt on the Thursday. It's Radio 1 at Download, 13.00-16.00 on Friday 14th June.
