Has anyone here done it?

I am going tomorrow for my friend shaun's birthday and i am a bit scared. Do any of you have hints or tips on how to avoid getting hurt. It is going to be mostly guy (there is only 2 females going eeek). In a way i am excited but i am also scared!

Ive never been before but I have been told it doesnt hurt as much as you think because you've got the adrenalin going! Other then that I have no advice, just have fun!!

The last time i went paint balling i was with my brother and we both coincidentally ended up as the last two standing in a every-man-for-himself match. We had to do a cowboy style draw, it was very painful.

I've been before, basically, if you don't want to get hit then stay behind some form of shelter, usually the place will have forts of some sort or damaged walls etc.

Other than that just go for it! And remember; its not an illegal move to shoot guys in the crotch

Shame on you Catherine for encouraging such foul play. I remember getting shot point blank in the leg once by some little rodent who crawled along the floor and crept up on me. It turned into the nastiest looking bruise ever.

Haha, I was only kidding! Although, I did get a guy in that area once, never seen someone hit the floor so fast.

The bruises can be really painful and ugly. But treat them as battle scars!

I've been paintballing loads. It stings a bit but it's fine after 30sec. If you don't want to get hit then stay at the back. Also turn your gun upside down and fire. It'll make a sound but nothing will come out so you can keep enemies at bay! Steal somone else's gun and go on a Rambo rage is my advice!

Best thing I've found is to wear a bulky scarf around your neck - that'll stop any bruising there... Whatever you do, keep your protective headgear on, and try to learn how your gun 'leans' (the normal paintguns in these places never shoot straight) if you want to get anywhere.

I have actually seen someone knocked out with a paintball to the temple, but that *is* unusual... And in my experience, it does hurt and quite a lot if at reasonably close range (say <5m). Expect bruises.

It's some of the best fun I've had in a forest with a group of mates though - you should enjoy it!

couple of tips

If doing capture the flag, dont try and be a hero and just charge for it as soon as the game starts, I thought it would catch the other team off guard, it didn't and I got pounded (was quite funny though)

Also most painfull place to be shot is probably on the fingers.

Well we played 7 games and i didnt get hit once. There were other groups of people there and so it ended up 14 v 14 and there were only 4 girls altogether. My mate matt got hit in the crotch and apparently it still hurts now. I paid £10 more for and extra 150 ammo because i ran out halfway through. I got loads of people but i didnt get hit. I am quite proud!

Even?!? I think not. Your pain lasts for a couple of days. Ours happens monthly :/ Plus I'm pretty sure childbirth eclipses all pain.

I was told by my consultant that the pain I experience when my lower discs move and trap my sciatic nerve is the same as childbirth. The best way I can describe it is if you had an exposed nerve in a tooth and someone kept blowing it with cold air and poking it with tin foil.
