Big Brother Coming Back!!

Saved by a torturer, yeah fantastic... guess this means Five Star will carry the 'live' stream that no-one gives a crap about. Channel 4 axed it due to falling ratings, did they not? Hope 5 have considered this in their decision.

Unless it's like the Doctor Who version of Big Brother, I won't be watching.

Yeah, if Channel 5 think they're going to get brilliant ratings for it then I fear they may be sorely mistaken... the general consensus seems to be that the British public are sick to the back teeth of it.

OK, so it will get low ratings, lower than on Channel 4, the question is how low? You have to compare these ratings with the ratings Channel 5 usually get. For example, week ending 20th March the highest figure's Five got were just under 300,000, with the football. Aside from that it was CSI with 260,000. I believe when Big Brother ended on 4 it was averaging a couple of million. If they lose haf their audience but still attract something like 1 million, or even 750,000 this will be a massive ratings boost for 5.

The figures can drop even lower, and this still could be a success for Five. If the figures are around the 300 - 400,000 mark 5 will probably wish they hadn't bothered. It's a gamble, but it just may work for them.

YES!!!! Brilliant news. Can't wait. I think the new series will be the best yet. It will probably be a complete change in direction from previous series'

Well it'll still be made by Endemol so unless Channel 5 sees enough reason to demand major changes...

Who actually watches BB? Can't think of any reason to do it...

I'm really not bothered where it's being streamed, I'm not watching anyway and according to what I've read about Channel 5, people are rather watching other channels. So why care if it's back? :)

Based on the ONE positive reaction to this, and massively negative reaction, even from previous fans of BB, I hope 5 really don't set their hopes too high, but it'll be cheap TV like it was on 4.

No no no, mine wasn't positive, mine was a polite way of saying it might be slightly less shit than all their other shit therefore attract slightly more people to watch it.

I meant more Viv's reaction (and feeling the need to post this as 'news' :P ), she did seem more pleased about this... maybe.

Well they would be wise to. There is a reason why channel 4 axed it and that is because there was a drop in viewers so they will make big enough changes to get the viewers in again

Serious question: Isn't BB still doing quite well in other countries or has it been axed in a lot of other places too? I ask because if it's still doing well elsewhere, Endemol would probably see less reason to make other changes.

Ah I see, well this is Viv, she couldn't be seen to be missing out on the "hot goss".

I think it is still doing well but I'm not too sure

You're just crazed with jealousy over my hot titles and hot-as-coal posts.

Hot-as-ice and cool-as-fire posts more like...

Ice Road Truckers is one of a few things I'll watch on 5... the others being the Eddie Stobart Trucks And Trailers show (especially the episode where they transport the Mercedes F1 car of one Michael Schumacher to a race last year <Turkey I think?>... nearly breaking it at some points in the process ), Gadget Show and the odd film... oh and Live From Studio 5 of course*

*that part may not be true, especially as it isn't even on anymore.

    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
    • I heard something about what is your favourite wood? Wtf 😂
    • Was the same vibe on the Easter Monday show they did too. Just random questions and the like…. Katie is definitely the glue around making the show listenable.
    • Vick and Jamie together are quite… awkward. Random discussion seems to be at an all time high without Katie. Maybe it’s just that there’s a lack of features today.
    • Jamie not even knowing about the big weekend day and the fact he starts the show at 14:00 just says everything.
    • I still haven’t forgiven Radio 1 for signing Laing. Vick and Jordan was good, you could hear the chemistry on air
    • I just want to add though that I am beginning to enjoy the show a bit more now that it’s settled in - I think Jamie (when he’s there) has calmed down a bit and then the new features that have been progressively added over the last couple of weeks have been good too.    I still don’t think it’s a patch on Vick and Jordan together, but it is now a show that seems like it could have legs into the future and once Matt and Mollie start in July, I could see myself sticking with R1 all afternoon.
    • I think it’s a slimmer line-up and seems to fall short in previous years where it seemed almost double that I know Raye is booked to perform and is a headline name. I think the issue with a station like capital they are dealing with a rather lacklustre year for pop and theres no real big pulls for pop festivals that are an easy sell out right now. I think Capital has had seen it’s Capital Ball’s as for any generic pop music listener I don’t know whether Bradley Simpson, Aitch and Paul Russel have the universality to play in a stadium even Sugababes think it would be better if they chosen a smaller outdoor location or Wembley arena.
