The great Buckfast debate.........

Apparently this fortified wine, made by monks in the south of England, has featured as a factor in 5000 crime reports by Scotland's largest police force. There are calls for it to be banned as it supposedly increases the chances of people turning violent after consuming it.

Oh, no, you've even created a topic about this!!

AND, it's invariably associated with Scottish people.

I do think cheap alcohol should be banned... including cheap cans of lager, because it only brings all the idiots out into the streets, annoying everyone else.

Kids in France (just as an example) are brought up differently. They are used to parents, etc., having wine at the table.

In this country, it's go out, drink as much as possible, and lie in a gutter for the night.

Banning it just because it's been linked to 5,000 crimes isn't the solution, it would just go underground. They need to look at why so many people are binging on it and address the causes.

Buckfast isn't a flipping class A drug. It's only a fortified wine, like sherry. It does taste rather nice too, only with a paper bag wrapped round it though. ;)

It's also pretty good for sweetening a sauce for duck or pork recipes.

Lay off those monks!
