I'm becoming increasingly sick of sampling and blatant copying in music today, especially the fact that the original artist is never given any credit.

Compare and contrast Paulo Nutini's 10/10 with Toots and the Maytals' Monkeyman.

Knew I'd heard this somewhere before Paulo... took me a while to work it out though. Was humming both songs to myself for quite a while before it came to me.

Mind you I suppose Oasis were a successful Beatles tribute band for years.

Can no one come up with anything original any longer?

I totally agree. I think that's why Zane Lowe's masterpieces appealed so much to me. Striking the difference between music from now and from the past.

Yeah I agree too, it really annoys me all the samples out now. I wonder what crap factor will bring out, another cover I expect.

I actually don't mind the dizzee rascal one, viv. The one that pisses me off right now is the one that samples imogen heap's hide and seek, it's a brilliant song which has just been ruined completely. And worst thing is, they always play it when i'm out anywhere in town, like every night, bloody annoying.
