Nihal in for Edith Bowman

The 'closer article was out a couple of weeks ago, it had loads of reports on pregnant celebs, and lots of them on the front cover, but ive no idea if it was online or not.

It wasnt a bad article, it just didnt really show edith in a positive maternal light. She was quoted about wanting to get back into exercising and thinking breastfeeding was a good idea because it would help her to lose weight...(when she could have said it was better for the baby!) And then she talked about hopefully going to glastonbury at the end of June. (When most new mums are settled at home getting used to a new baby!)

Its strange cos you kind of get an impression of people..and I sort of thought Edith would be the kind of person to really dote on a baby...eg.She made such a big deal about Zanes and Nihals baby, on air...

Of course theres no reason why she should, but she doesnt seem to have given any real impression on her show or in the press that shes excited or realistic about being a mum. Even her press release says shes bitter sweet about leaving her show. Why? Her show will still be there, and its not every day you get the chance to be a mum?

i think it may be down to Edith's heart problems & this may be her only chance to have a baby, but she did say that it wasn't planned & as she is so busy with work at radio-1 & her other dj-ing she does, she also is very much into photography having recently just passed her exam & she also likes to travel & do sports & she has had weight issues in the past & has been trying to keep it healthy & herself fit due to her heart condition.

of course she is happy about having a baby, but i suppose she doesn't want to put her life completely on hold as other mums to be would & she said when it was first made public that being pregnant isn't a illness & the woman shouldn't be treated as such, it has probably just put her plans back a year or two & she knows life will never be the same for her again

i cannot imagine Edith just sitting about at home, can you ?

she has a very good job that she absolutely loves, i don't think that Edith would give it up for anything, as music is what Edith live for.

onto Nihal, i wasn't to keen on his interviewing style today.

:)

im going to email Mr Parfitt & complain about this :!:

BTW is it [email protected] ?

I was under the impression that you had a hotline to Mr Parfitt? I seem to vaguely recall that you have threatened to send him strongly worded complaints on more than one occasion in the past.;)

Nihal has got rid of cake day, as he is on a diet & doesn't have the will power to stop himself from eating one if its in-front of him, & wants fridays to be bake day instead !

You're clearly not mature enough to understand the concept of Nihal's show. Edith is gone, no one is forcing him to keep up Edith's format. Go watch CBeebies till September.

I'm 100% behind Nihal on this one. I'm on a diet 90% of the time, it does get quite annoying when they talk about cake all the time. Bake day, however, is no better. I'm just surrounded by food ;)

I'm very impressed that Nihal has gone so long without any sweets :D

I'm very happy with Nihal. He is a cheery presence in the background of my afternoons.

Like his malapropisms too. I haven't worked out yet if they're intentional or not. Doesn't matter, they make me smile.

    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
    • Echo what most have said here. Connor has great energy which is important for that sort of slot and the shame for him is that the dance line-up is so strong that there's no obvious 'in' for him to get a regular slot -Danny, Sarah, Pete Tong, Arielle, Charlie Hedges, Jerry and Charlie Tee are all great in their slots. A live show on Radio 1 Dance really feels the obvious way to get a proper foot in the door at Radio 1. Although to be fair to the DS critic I think it was just the one poster and can very much hear Connor in my head saying 'in for the legend that is Charlie Hedges'.
    • James Cusack is in for Jack on Friday 14th June, doing the chart while Jack is at Download.
    • I remember hearing Amy first on Scotts show and she was great on that, the daft quiz questions always made me smile. It's really nice to see the hard work has paid off for them all.
    • Actually the worst tends to be those who comment on Radio Today news stories. People who haven’t listened to younger oriented radio stations in years who say things like “who?” about any job going to any presenter aged younger than 50.
    • Ahhh very happy for Amy - that’s very well deserved! I didn’t hear their final show but are Matt and Mollie keeping Helena? Hopefully she might be the main producer of their new show!
    • I bet Amy and Greg are going to be fun together
    • Ah that's great for Amy. Yes I assumed she would be going back to afternoons!
