Mark and lard were class as far as im concerned .

In one of their shows they played Pink Floyd's 'Time' in its entirety - all 7mins 21 seconds of it!!! LEGENDS!! Can you imagine Whiley doin that?? Hell no she'd rather play a useless live lounge gold from the pansies that are the feeling or someone.

Annie Mac will do - she's lush!!:D

Well folks, it's now 2021, and to paraphrase Paul Simon, 'Still annoying .. after all these years'.

I've tried to like her - I really have.

Fundamentally, it's to do with striking a pose whereby she wants to be mainstream, and yet somehow 'above' the mainstream, at the very same time.

She just about pulls that off on telly, because she still looks kind of cute in a pair of wellies. Back on the wireless, however, it's insufferable.

Thank goodness for Janice Long on Radio Wales ...

@Old Codger Fan pretty subjective thing caught bits of Jo Whiley before she seemed good to me at broadcasting and takes talent to meet sort of a less mainstream sound on mainstream radio. I do see that in a decade Clara could take her slot. She seems good to me think however radio 2 could have more of the classic anthems or sounds hear on 6 music maybe at evenings so they can explore more new music tho.

I wanna know why or how you’ve managed to dig up this thread from 2008? ?

I did a general search the other day, out of idle curiosity, on most annoying dj's, and this came up as a link. It then struck me just how long (off and on) I'd been TRYING to like her! ...

I found I come around to why some people found Maya Jama annoying but find that more on TV than on Radio found that with AJ Odudu. But think for me one of the most annoying voices heard on station was when Luke Franks about 4 5 years ago sort of at time when Jordan North was coming up as next thing tiny bit before Arrielle and they did a podcast together for the station I’m pleased that wasn’t made permanent. Found time from time Cel Spellman would be annoying but same time he was ok.

I think some staff on Radio 2 seems more cheesy for my liking but not their audience do find their ad on telly bit cringe. But least with comparison to Capital they do avoid keeping the annoying presenters away or not making it their brand like that Capital Breakfast ad.

Yep a lot of R2 is definitely cheesy, completely agree with you there. Doubt I'll ever 'move' to R2 from R1...

Maya's voice was OK on R1 IMO, but it was the words she said that were often ill-thought through. And let's not even think about her technical skills, even towards the end of her time there she was still technically poor which just made her show even more cringe-worthy.

    • Richie Anderson in for Rylan tomorrow.
    • Mylo and Rosie said at the end of their show today that they would also be on Early Breakfast on Thursday 24th July (even though the schedule still says Dean)
    • James is in for Dean from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th August. Dean is in for Greg from Monday 11th to Friday 15th August. Jaguar is in for Sarah on Friday 15th August.
    • Tara Kumar is in for Alyx on Sunday 13th July.
    • Conor Knight & Lauren Layfield are in for Matt & Mollie on Monday 14th July.  Matt is solo on Tuesday 15th July.  Jerry is in for Mollie between Wednesday 16th & Thursday 24th July.  Maia Beth is covering Future Pop on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd July. On Sunday 27th July the Chillest Show is reduced to an hour, and 20.00-21.00 is a BBC Proms special with JADE. On Thursday 31st July 18.00-20.00 in place of Jack's show it's the Dance Party Warm-Up with Danny Howard (ahead of the Ibiza weekend).
    • Dean McCullough in for Greg w/c 4th August. James Cusack on EB.
    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
