I’m thinking we will get a weekend afternoon. Change in the new year now as on ly 3 weeks till September

The longer they leave the announcement the more I think it might be Danny Beard getting the slot. They’re doing a UK tour during September so wouldn’t be available to start a show until October. Otherwise if it was someone like James, they surely would have announced it and had him starting at the beginning of September.

Let's really really hope not. Or at the very minimum, put him with someone else. A solo Danny would be a disaster.

The schedule updates automatically I believe, so Friday 1pm is currently programmed to ‘Summer on Radio 1.’ Someone will need to change that manually and so the announcement could still come in the next week or so that James/Ore/Nikita/anyone other than Danny Beard is doing the slot.

I can't see them taking Nikita Kanda away from Asian Network breakfast. Equally with Ore covering the slot through this month, I really can't see it being him. The fact the schedules are now published for that week, even if it was an outsider, I'd have thought they'd be announced by now. I'm hoping it's not another duo/trio either way.

I imagine that if they’d give it to her they’d promise her something bigger in the future, i.e. she’d be put next in line for a daytime slot when/if RMC/Vick or Jamie depart.

Hmm. She's a decent presenter but I don't see R1 going for her. I'm surprised she's leaving Capital though. I suppose Kemi Rodgers might be a shoe in for mid mornings there once she's finished her cover stint on breakfast.

Rio is still doing the next few weeks on Capital so I doubt she’s making the move to Radio 1, or she’d be on gardening leave already.
