Hola,

New here, only just got ADSL - WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN!!! Feeling 'Sean-of-the-Dead-ish' already! Zombie alert!

Maybe a bucket of Pinot Grigot might do the trick.

Sure I'm not the first to say it, but Chappers IS the poor man's Daniel Craig. This is meant as a compliment, incidentally. Certainly NOT saying I'd like to see him emerging from the waves in speedos though, JODER! (Look it up Spanish-Eng dictionary). It can't be denied, however, that there is a 'frisson' of the Craig there. Anyone agree?

On another theme, I'd be delighted to show Scott around La Nogalera in Torremolinos! Dark places, you're on your own though mate!

Have been living in Madrid and Malaga for 10 years, and this is my first contact with the outside world! Love being here; what's not to love about my free tan, natural blonde hair and sea-view, but have missed British radio, tv, culture sooo much. Hablo Espanol tambien!

Glad to be back.

LOVE YOU,

Nx

From the thread title, and the layout/style of the post, I thought this was spam at first. In a nice way :)

Hi and welcome, good to hear from you in sunny Spain.

Okay original poster, it's off-topic but tell us more about yourself. How did you find out about Radio 1 in Spain and what does your user name mean?

Posted

Ooh i can tell you about his user name.

I assume it means King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. Its a famous music venue in Glasgow, where Oasis were spotted by Alan McGee

Smoke signals of course, we don't have much technology down here in these parts.

Sorry, truce...? Less sarcasm.

Was brought up in London, went to Uni in the fantastic city that is Glasgow (hence KingTutsWWH, could've been Volcano though), then moved to Spain. Always been sadly obssessed with new music. Scott's humour is a bonus.

Ah, don't worry about the sarcasm, it's perfectly normal here. Just don't be too mean, we're actually a nice bunch of people, despite what Chappers says!

Welcome to the site, by the way. I'm Kelly, Unofficial Mills' resident crazy fangirl. :)

Give the girl a lolly!

Thanks for noticing Stacey. King Tuts, Barrowlands, Del Monicas, The Art School (where I was a barmaid for a while), The Arches and the QMU are all places that shaped my life. I miss Glasgow a lot. Not the climate though.

Expect it's changed a fair bit. The Volcano's been demolished I hear. Shame.

I'm a 'she' by the way.

Hello Kelly, thanks for the kind welcome. At least SOME people can be civil!

Hi Tim, Think there might have been volcano under castle in Edinburgh loooooong ago - talking Ice age-ish. Glasgow Volcano was amazing club where Bobbie Gillespie DJ'd every Sunday night and I watched the lovely Euan McGregor filming the club scene in Trainspotting. Showing my age now!

Nope, sorry. In a huff now. Going to bed. Have to sleep off the effect of those elusive mushrooms(?), and think up some more spam for Jono.

Buenas noches

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
