X FACTOR boss Simon Cowell has sensationally ditched host Kate Thornton and judge Louis Walsh from the show.

Mr Nasty’s shock decision brought major rows and tears behind the scenes of the hit ITV talent show.

Kate and Louis were only told they were axed hours before the news was made public.

Cowell is said to be wooing Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, 33, to replace Louis who has been on the panel for three years.

Multi-millionaire Cowell is also looking for a new male host.

In the frame are said to be Xtra Factor’s Ben Shephard, 32, Big Brother’s Little Brother host Dermot O’Leary, 33, Fame Academy’s Patrick Kielty, 36, and ITV fave Vernon Kay, 32.

In a further shake-up, the show’s age limit is to be lowered to 14 and the contest will now have four categories – young male pop idols 14-25; young female pop idols 14-25; groups; and over-25s.

A good move for the saviour of Radio 1 or not? What do you think. I think in the short-run it might do him some good, but I'm not sure about the long-run.

Methinks the Metro didn't do their research very well here:

Radio 1 'saviour' Chris Moyles has been tipped to work his magic on the X Factor's ratings by replacing Kate Thornton as presenter.

The popular DJ - who has boosted listeners on the BBC station - is the 3/1 favourite to take the helm on the ITV1 talent show after he appeared in the celebrity version last year, according to Ladbrokes.

Spokesman Nick Weinberg said: "Chris is the man to beat. He's got first hand experience of X Factor, which sets him apart from the field."

But he added: "If he landed the job there's every possibility he may overshadow Simon Cowell, which could work against him."

Remembering how rude Mr Moyles is to callers he seems the wrong choice. Simon's rude, the other judge should be sweet and nice. Anyhow, Moyles would just send the whole thing up.

On the other hand, at least it'd stop him worrying that Louis liked him a bit too much when he did celeb X Factor - generally stealing someone's job tends to be a sure cure for that :D

UM is a nice place
