spotty 10
Well I guess this should go in here as its a bit of a geeky question, I'm hoping one of you that knows more about radio than me can answer it. Why is Scott constantly moving a switch while he is talking. Is it so he keeps the sound level with in the parameters that broadcasting standards require? Thats the one thing i remember from my 5 mins talking on uni radio one afternoon. Quote Sorry if for any spelling mistakes, I'm dyspraxic.
capes 14
This is the 'bed' for the Oh What's Occuring feature. Strictly speaking he should keep the bed at the same level, however sometimes it does sound better to increase or decrease the sound level for theatre, tension or (as i suspect in his case) habit! It's useful for when I am talking and if I lose my thought a bit, to just raise the bed up for a second while I find my words. And it is also a habit. TheEpicPlum 10
Because he just wanted to show off how big his hands are. Quote OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

R94N 10
Quite a few DJs do that, such as when talking over songs. I remember once on the Chris Moyles show when they were doing the whole Toby Lerone thing the second time around there was this clip of a woman from a foreign radio station who kept adjusting the fader so much it made the clip difficult to listen to. Wizard 10
Mmm. Dangerous habit to get into, it can sound really crap if you do it wrong.I'm an unrepentant fader fiddler xD when I'm on air I constantly fiddle with the levels, it's a really bad habit xDYeah, I used to be very guilty of it, but it's so tempting! I tend to keep it faily similar levels all the time now. Scott makes it sound good most of the time, because he doesn't always do it and I think radio 1's compression means that it doesn't over exaggerate it.?!?! Wot an expression (shocked)Ha ha!! Love it! [Not the actual thing]Oh God, Bail! I Know what imean!!LOL a friend of mine came up with it, I've used it ever since.i could noticeably hear Grimmy do it the other day. It was really annoying, and also totally unnecessary!Yeah, I hate the way grimmy does it, it's very sudden, over-exaggerated and he does it a lot. That's one reason I don't tune into him very often.
