Questions for Joe off of Scott Mills: The Musical

Recommended Posts

Digital Spy makes a thread for any 'famous' people (usually Big Brother ex-housemates) who go on the forum to answer questions so I thought we should make one for Joe.

I'll start this off.. What was Wolfboy like (Scott said something about you going to see it during friday's show) and did you manage to see any other shows while you were there?

This thread is funny, but I'm happy to answer any questions (within reason! :P ).

Wolfboy was... not good. I saw it on the recommendation that it was 'so bad it's funny' and it kind of lived up to that. The cast worked really hard, it was just the most ridiculous concept for a musical. Add the fact that the songs were rubbish and Lee from Steps was AWFUL... made for quite a funny show, but for all the wrong reasons!

I saw a few other shows whilst I was there, some of my friends from LIPA are in several shows, two musicals - Falsettoland and Sixways (an original musical) - which just got named the number one musical to see at the fringe, and an original play, By Order Of Ignorance.

I stayed a few extra days to see some more shows, and had an 'amezzin' time. x.

Joe is a member of the forum. Hopefully he will drop by occasionally and answer them himself :D

My question would be:

What is next for you Joe?

(Looking forward to hearing you on the show again soon.)

Well, officially, I'm going back to LIPA on the 14th to start my second year. We're all unsure but optimistic about other things happening, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Make sure you keep listening cause I may be on the show at some point soon x.

What diva demands did you make for the musical - or have you made - since returning?

I can honestly say I don't make diva demands :). I think the closest it came was on the last night, just before the encore one of the sound guys asked me to take a handheld because people scream so much during the encore that it's difficult to hear the song. I said yes, but then panicked about the logistics of doing the dance routine with a handheld mike, so I said no. Is that diva-ish? I hope not!

are you going to send these Questions to Joe equalsabracket?

My question is Hi Joe what was It Like Playing Scott In the Musical?

Sorry, missed this question! Playing Scott was wicked fun, and I was lucky enough to have a lot of input into the songs and stuff so they worked for my voice and the script was fantastic - it basically gave me the opportunity to dress up in stupid things, say stupid things and sing my heart out. I loved it and wish it wasn't over.

and about the appearance... I'm not sure whether to do it yet... I imagine it being quite embarassing! But I will get paid, I'll find out how much first! Hehe x.

Hi Joe, I'm Scott's actual Guru but you probably already knew that. You may recognize me off youtube ect ;) Anyway, enough about me. You must have spent a lot of time with Scott having to play him so what's he actually like as a person. Good traits AND bad traits. Thanks!

P.S. Don't be alarmed but over the past week I have had your voice in my head quite a bit. Mostly saying "R-A-D-I-O baby on the R-A-D-I-O" over and over :)

Hey Joe! You were fab in the musical! My question is if you could join the cast of any show on TV, which show would you pick?

Thank you!

Ummm I would love to do a voice on Futurama. Or maybe a cameo in True Blood! Or maybe just be an extra Friend :D

Haha loving the little musical in joke there :).

Scott is actually a lovely person, they all are. I had the best time with them all.

Scott's good traits - he is very funny in person, buys us drinks :) and I really like how lovely he is when people recognise him - never a diva. Bad things... He is addicted to his iPhone and I can't keep up with his speedy Pinot drinking! x.

Yay :D glad you made it onto the thread Joe.

A couple more questions from me:

What was your favourite song from the musical?

What did Chappers really think about it all after he saw it?

My favourite song to sing was probably the Dreamed a Dream spoof, or Pinot Grigio (I love to belt). I also love Chappers' I just wanna dance.

Chappers told me he really enjoyed it, and said lovely things about the show. I hope he was being serious :P

have you been approached by any musical producers etc from the West End & alike to be in anyother shows ?

I haven't yet but here's hoping! I can't fully commit to things very easily at the moment though, as I'm still studying. But who knows?

I have been listening to a couple of old Podcasts recently, last night I was listening to Scott talking about wanting to enter the Eurovision Song Contest. Since we now know how fab your voice is, would Scott be able to talk you into being his Eurovision Song Contest entry for next year? ;)

I can't think of anything better!

So you have a wii

I do, but it's not hooked up to the internet... :(

    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
    • I heard something about what is your favourite wood? Wtf 😂
    • Was the same vibe on the Easter Monday show they did too. Just random questions and the like…. Katie is definitely the glue around making the show listenable.
    • Vick and Jamie together are quite… awkward. Random discussion seems to be at an all time high without Katie. Maybe it’s just that there’s a lack of features today.
    • Jamie not even knowing about the big weekend day and the fact he starts the show at 14:00 just says everything.
    • I still haven’t forgiven Radio 1 for signing Laing. Vick and Jordan was good, you could hear the chemistry on air
    • I just want to add though that I am beginning to enjoy the show a bit more now that it’s settled in - I think Jamie (when he’s there) has calmed down a bit and then the new features that have been progressively added over the last couple of weeks have been good too.    I still don’t think it’s a patch on Vick and Jordan together, but it is now a show that seems like it could have legs into the future and once Matt and Mollie start in July, I could see myself sticking with R1 all afternoon.
    • I think it’s a slimmer line-up and seems to fall short in previous years where it seemed almost double that I know Raye is booked to perform and is a headline name. I think the issue with a station like capital they are dealing with a rather lacklustre year for pop and theres no real big pulls for pop festivals that are an easy sell out right now. I think Capital has had seen it’s Capital Ball’s as for any generic pop music listener I don’t know whether Bradley Simpson, Aitch and Paul Russel have the universality to play in a stadium even Sugababes think it would be better if they chosen a smaller outdoor location or Wembley arena.
    • He's in bed sick today so not sure it will happen this weekend.
    • Don't think it's the most amazing line-up. They seemed to really be pushing people to buy tickets on release day.
