I was shocked to hear this last night, i heard he was recovering slowly, i'm gutted, i didn't watch countdown very often but i thought he was a great presenter and a broadcaster. Whether it will carry on, who knows?

My thoughts go to his family and friends.

Speaking of Stephen Fry, he's coming to my town on Saturday to open some crappy shops.

But Newsbeat quoted Richard Whitely saying it shouldn't go ahead if either of them weren't around, or words to that effect.

I know Stephen Fry has his own quiz show - i was saying he'd be perfect if the circumstances were right.

Gyles Brandreth has never presented HIGNFY I don't think, although has been a panelist on it a couple of times
