Are any of you using this? Many music experts have claimed that it'll be the 'future of music on the internet'.

I think it's pretty good on the free pass. The music-related advert every 5-7 tracks isn't too intrusive and I think is worth the hassle if you get to listen to albums in their entirety before considering whether to buy them. I've already listened to loads of albums for free which I wouldn't ordinarily have bothered with.

I think its a little overrated, yes its ok, but not brilliant.

It will probably be sued at somepoint and therefore cease to exist.

Spotify is great. I've been using it since January. I've got a few invites if anyone wants one. The adverts aren't too annoying and it's got singles with B-sides and stuff that I haven't been able to get hold of elsewhere.

The collaborative playlists are quite cool, if you link someone a playlist then you can both add things to it and share the stuff you've found. I've been using it more than my own music lately.

USed it a bit, but not loads, mainly as I've yet to find music on there I really like. Shame really, looks awesome.

But I'll stick to Last.FM I think, I do love that site :D :D

It has adverts. Surely it shouldn't get sued? Only real danger is not getting enough adverts to generate enough revenue to keep going.

I believe the content is paid for through the ad revenue it generates therefore isn't illegal. I think it states somewhere on their site that they have clearance to deliver the content legally.

I've now signed up - although annoyingly enough they've listed my location as 'Spain' and they won't let me change it. Generally I like it so far, although I'm a bit disappointed that you can't download anything. Oh well, at least this means I can listen to the new Franz Ferdinand album now, I wasn't sure whether or not to buy it given some of the reviews it's had.

Yeah, it's great, has lots of random stuff on it that I don't have, especially B-sides from singles and live versions.

I don't know if there's a Linux version... most likely not, cos it's quite new.

Everyone seems to be banging on about this Spotify atm, I've already got Last.fm so I don't really see the point in signing up to a similar site that from what I've read has annoying ads in it.

i have had one advert so far & i have had it on for about 45 mins

      This GK Barry thing is so weird. Surely they’d give her a slot in the summer instead of ripping up the schedule at the start of the year. Casual listeners will think the change is permanent as it’s lined up with the rest of the schedule changing.    Surely doing the two week stint that James is doing on Going Home would be better.

      Some notes about the schedules released from the 5th September. James is still down to do Weekend Breakfast, it might be his last weekend. Nat and Vicky are down to do the 4th-5th September but generic listings on the 6th Sep. Callum Leslie in for Lauren on Life Hacks. Looks like there will be an Indie show on both the 6th and 8th September as it moves to it new slot. GK Barry begins her run of shows on the 10th September, it's called The GK Barry Show on Radio 1.

      Agreed. I wasn't expecting the gap to be as long as this, and we've not even got an announcement yet. I know they needed to get breakfast sorted, but we knew who was taking over within 4 weeks of Gary stepping in.

      In fairness almost all the presenters this summer have done two week stints. It’s bizarre that the interim show itself is continuing this far into the year though.

      W/C 7th September. Rather unsurprisingly, a new drivetime show isn't being launched this week. Gary Davies is listed still. I wonder if he'll now do a stint on drive until any new show launches.

      Of course completely understand it's not the most important thing to work on, but that doesn't explain how some updates have been made and then removed, that's even more work than just doing the update and leaving it!
