Tomorrow we're getting a new geography teacher who, accordin to our old teacher is "young and hunky/dishy/quite hot". He's 30, and - according to our old teacher - "it'll be hard for the girls to concentrate on what he's saying".. :P

My friend had a hot geography teacher, I've never had one though. Geography is undoubtedly the best subject, so make sure you concentrate!

I've still not experienced BBC Switch, it just doesn't appeal to me. I think I'm getting old.

I will, especially as I'm still not sure if I want it as my "linjefag" (A level?) - we have to choose two, and I know that I want French. I'm not sure if the second one is going to be history, geography, English or "samfundsfag" (about politics and stuff like that)... And I have to decide before Friday at 12.00

I heard Elvis Ain't Dead on Danish radio today. Just as I turned on the radio it was playing. I thought SFG were completely unknown in Denmark.

This song is ace! I love it!

Tell them to send you a £50 and you'll see what you can do ;)

Haha. Sounds good to me. I could do one of those ebay things. "Pay £50 and I'll give you an exclusive link!!"

These old songs Scott is playing are just a walking endorsement for Scott's gigs. Actually I reckon he should devote a gig to dodgy songs like that. Copyrighting that idea now... ;)

I'm looking up lyrics for the songs that I've got on my Absolute 60's Cd. There are some seriously wrong lines among them..

her name is spelled B-R-I-T-N-E-Y. So what?!

Oh God! These lyrics aren't wrong, but they are really weird. Just made me laugh :D

Who Put The Bomp?

Who put the bomp

In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?

Who put the ram

In the rama lama ding dong?

Who put the bop

In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?

Who put the dip

In the dip da dip da dip?

Who was that man?

I'd like to shake his hand

He made my baby

Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

When my baby heard

"Bomp bah bah bomp "

"Bah bomp bah bomp bah bomp bomp"

Every word went right into her heart

And when she heard them singin'

"Rama lama lama lama"

"Rama ding dong"

She said we'd never have to part

So

Each time that we're alone

Boogity boogity boogity

Boogity boogity boogity shoo

Sets my baby's heart all aglow

And everytime we dance to

Dip da dip da dip

Dip da dip da dip

She always says she loves me so

So

A new contender for having too much time on their hands ;)

I am actually lost in the world of radio, I have no idea what's going on now. I hope Scott's not hinting he wants 1000 reasons to love Scott Mills.

Even though I'm very fond of Scott - I think that's going a little far....

I'm making chicken and mushroom pie from scratch, sorry I've been quiet.

Doubt we could get to 10 ;) It's worth a thread though, pahaha.

Hee, I love that song. Housemates don't...

Yeah, it is good. I just never noticed the lyrics before. I usually listen to music on the schoolbus on my way home, and I'm usually not really listening.

    • Oh boy, if that's the case above then what are they trying to do at r1? If Danny was put into weekend afternoons that's one hell of a faux par and a big nail in the coffin. While ok, Nat and Vicky aren't about to blow the doors off and are only there as the fallout of d&v, but to then follow that up with Danny for 3 days a week. Come on. To go from a place where we had Katie followed by M&M to that. What happened to the prestigiousness of r1? Do they need reminding they've just lost Jordan? It's getting embarrassing. Like I said before, when I had people with 0 interest in radio whatsoever and it was in the background telling me to turn it off, you know it's bad. I saw a random friend from years ago even posting on fb with how has someone like Danny ended up on r1. Everywhere you turn its negative. Doesn't that multiply across the uk in what the r1 audience actually think of this presenter? I'm in the LGBTQ+ community and also r1 target audience but I don't feel I want to listen to this presenter because of that fact. Has some policy actually overtaken the true risk of driving audiences away? The fact is just how @coffeeandgin said, Danny has had chance since March with 2 shows a week and is still not up to the job. The odd podcast yes but certainly not to replace m&m! I've skipped through 10 minutes of this week to make sure I wasn't basing opinions on how it was before and yes it is the same level. When you had presenters like Scott who could keep it fresh despite how many years it had been, but then Danny sounds so out of date already, saying you could tune over to Rylan on r2... but then with a topic of "I want to know what have you missed out on?" I'm sorry?! What kind of local radio is that... it's meant to be radio 1 ffs. Terrible talking points, cringe, unfunny, and so bad on the radio it actually makes it jarring and makes people switch over.
    • I don’t think it will be September it will be a very messy schedule if that’s the case
    • As a member of the LGBTQ+ community my position is exactly yours on female representation.  Yes I want representation but only on merit.   Even if Radio 1 would like more representation from this sector, there are stacks of better options than Danny Beard.
    • I hope you're right! I remember some years ago hearing that the biggest show at a weekend was mid-mornings, but not sure if that's changed with the changing pattern of radio listening in general. Given the best show at the weekend (by a distance) is M&M, would make sense that's now the biggest slot.
    • Someone on here said recently weekend afternoons have a big audience. I think you'd want some of your biggest talent here. Which is why there was talk of a reshuffle. I couldn't personally see Danny in this slot if they decided to keep him.
    • I understand that representation is important. And I can't speak for the LGBTQ+ community. But, as a woman in my mid 30s, I have seen a massive shift towards 'having more women' in every industry/organisation in my lifetime. I have always felt that it should be on merit and capability to carry out a role effectively, rather than just filling a role as a specific gender. Women can be fantastic at everything, but on a personal level I would not want to be hired, for example, as a firefighter  just because I was the only female candidate. I am 5 foot nothing and could not carry you out of a burning building.
    • If they were going to do this, wouldn’t it make more sense to keep Danny at 10.30am and move Nat and Vicky to 1pm? I feel the idea of giving someone a job largely because of their sexuality isn’t particularly good either…
    • Right so prediction time. I think “Summer on Radio 1” which is on the schedule for Friday to Sunday 1-4 from June sticks around longer than the other changes in July. I think that lasts until September which is when we get the new weekend afternoon show. I think they’ll want to give Danny longer on air to see if they improve. I can’t see that happening, so my guess is in September they move Sam & Danni to weekend afternoons (at that point they’ll have been on weekend breakfast for a full year), and they bring James Cusack in to do weekend breakfast.
    • If Aled decides to give Danny a full time role, even as part of a duo / trio, it'll be the most disappointing decision of his tenure. The fact Danny is still on air and hasn't been quietly moved on 'due to a change in plan' is bad enough!
    • I'd say Danny has been given a fair hearing - and hasn't been up to par. You don't want Radio 1 to be a closed shop - but not being able to usually get the Whatsapp number right should be a dealbreaker. Errors happen even to the best DJs at times but if you can't get the Whatsapp number right you really shouldn't have a regular role on the station. But if they really are that desperate to have Danny on the schedule full-time then pair him up with somebody who can actually handle the technical side. You think of all the capable DJs who are in duos and trios and then you have just have a rookie like Danny left solo.  The LGBTQ+ point too I have to say if true as a gay man feels a case of proper discrimination. It's good to have LGBTQ+ representation for sure but the key thing is that the DJ is good at the end of the day and say in 2021 there was loads of LGBTQ+ talent on Radio 1 in Scott, Grimmy and Adele Roberts among others but at the end of the day they were strong DJs entirely there on merit. And even now there's still LGBTQ+ talent on Radio 1 who are there primarily because they're bloody good broadcasters. Danny is not one of them.
    • There is a reason you don't know who is doing weekend afternoons yet. The plan is still to see how Danny Beard's trial goes on weekend mornings. Newspaper clippings have demonstrated Aled has been keen to push Danny Beard at the weekend and to give him a fair hearing. The plan looks to be to wait and see whether he improves in the next few weeks. The bosses still want more LBGTQ+ representation on the station.
    • I think they should just bring that back as was. It's been nearly 20 years, so do it with a whole bunch of new DJ's.
    • I think this year has taught us we know nothing 🙂 Nobody would ever have credibly predicted Jordan leaving and all the changes that followed.   I have another interest outside radio and it is exactly the same - the stuff you never expect to happen is exactly what does.
    • Yeah they make the weekend shifts go so much quicker. Like today, the piece about Matt falling asleep in the cafe was funny, it's clear to see why they're going to weekdays. It could well be they were thinking of Danny for it and like you say have decided against that, or like I said at the start it's James Cusack and the slow down on the announcement is him getting out of his contract. Remember he works for radio 1's main rivals. I think it's quite telling that he's doing more r1 cover than usual, tomorrow and then a further 3 weekend shows in a row
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky between the 28th-30th May.
