Ch-ch changes at BBC Radio 1

No I dont think there is any irony with Osborne giving advice. She's experience a lot herself, so she's more than capable of giving advice to others. Having someone like Kelly on Radio 1 will hopefully allow young people to relate to the show a bit better. It's certainly a better choice than Peaches F u c k i n g Geldof

I dont think he has to be honest with you, Greg is more than capable of managing a show of this level. He'll certainly inspire others to do the same. It was obvious that changes were going ahead and that Greg James was being tested and evaluated at that particular time slot. Well done to him, he seems a natural and brings something fresh to Radio 1.

Sorry this will be a long post:

JK & Joel, I think are the 2nd best daytime presenters their early breakfast show is a good listen and as others have said thought they were being groomed to replace Moyles, but they have been doing alot of TV work recently so maybe they are moving more into TV.

I thought they may have moved to Edith's slot as her show is so dull.

Although I have been impressed with Greg James so will probably still listen to early breakfast.

Good to see Fearne & Reggie off weekend breakfast as I cant stand them and I never listen to the chart show.

Vernon Kay's lie in, why get rid of this, this is a fantastic show really hearing some different music to the usual crap radio 1 play and instead we get two idiots on the air (sorry but they are not funny, maybe to the younger audience they are).

Specialist shows, dance anthems on a Friday ??? will probably be pre-recorded no listener input, it suits the Sunday night slot rounding off the weekend and Judge Jules at 1am ??-one of the best dance shows on the station so they stick it on during the early hours.

With the changes to Sunday, to me it looks like radio 1 are aiming for a young auidence.

Lastly Moyles at 6.30, although its always good to hear more Moyles, he can just make it in for 7 let alone 6.30.

Overall im not impressed im 20 and so well inside radio 1's target range but this new schedule doesn't really do much and i will probably just listen more to internet stations.

"Just one more game, I promise"

if they are aiming towards 11 and 12 year olds (maybe younger) they wont keep them listening for long. yes i used to listen a lot back then to mnl and moyles at school and out of school. but they dont understand that people that age especially dont want to hear dj's talking becuase they dont understand it, they want non stop music. so they will choose their mp3 player or galaxy over radio 1, especially with the radio 1 playlist lacking a lot of upfront dance and r&b that galaxy does play.

on the grid.

I'll be sorry to see JK & Joel go, but as they said it will give them more time to concentrate on the various TV Shows they are currently filming. I loved listening to them on early breakfast, especially the Dev impressions, but will still listen to Greg James as I think he'll get better with presenting experience.

I'm 32 and a recent convert back to listening to Radio 1, so I can't really comment on the other DJ's as I don't know their shows well enough.

I won't be listening to Dick and Dom as I think they are for a younger audience.

I'll also give Fearne & Reggie a chance at the Chart Show before deciding whether to switch off or not.

Why get rid of Vernon Kay's lie in - I feel that this was the perfect show for the weekend - just a lot of fun and laughs. It was a great way to wind down after a hard week at work.

Good points: More Moyles, Nihal at the weekends, Kelly Osbourne on the Surgery and Scott Mills not leaving!!!

• Dick and Dom join the station to host the Sunday morning show

hahahaha no way.

Will people really catch Moyles at 6.30am? They seem to be following the technique of other radio stations, but I would have rather there was an extra half hour at the end of the show.

Will Chris be up for 6:30?

Radio 1 revamps schedule with even more Moyles!

• Chris Moyles gets extra half hour

• Kelly Osbourne joins Radio 1

• Friday nights dedicated to dance music genres - Saturday nights dedicated to black music genres

BBC Radio 1 announce today (Thursday 6th September) an overhaul of both the daytime and evening schedules. The new schedule will come into effect on Friday October 12th with the following changes:

• The Chris Moyles Show will be extended by an extra half an hour with a new start time of 6.30am from Monday October 15th

• Sunday evenings 7pm - midnight becomes the teen zone - New show hosted by Annie Mac, Kelly Osbourne the new host of Radio 1’s Surgery

• Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates will host Radio 1’s Chart Show plus a new audience request show

• Friday and Saturday evenings become “the best club flyer in the world” dedicated to dance music genres (Fridays) and black music genres (Saturdays)

In further news, more brand new shows are being introduced:

• Nihal will host the weekend breakfast show

• New DJ Greg James takes over the prestigious early breakfast slot, having been plucked from student radio

• Trevor Nelson’s Saturday evening show will be simulcast on Radio 1’s sister station 1Xtra

• Huw Stephens and the Nations shows continue and become BBC Introducing, the BBC’s initiative supporting the newest emerging musical talent

• Rob da Bank gains a new show

• Dick and Dom join the station to host the Sunday morning show

JK and Joel, the current hosts of the early breakfast show and Radio 1’s Chart Show will leave Radio 1 after three and a half years with the station. Trophy Twins will leave Radio 1 after two years with the station.

I knew JK and Joel were leaving the station although I didnt want to say anything before todays official announce,ment-they feel they have been given a raw deal still being stuck on early breakfast after 3 years ,and now theyre hosting a ptime time ITV show can get better deals on commercial radio.Fearne and Reggie were finding it increasingly difficult to do weekend breakafast because of their work commitments ,but Im sure you will all agree that Nihal is long overdue for his own daytime show.for the same reason its no surprise that Vernon Kay will be doing less work on the station.Dick and Dom are excellent replacements for him on sunday mornings.I suppose Trevor Ne;lson and Judge Jules wont be too happy about their demotiona nd Dave Pearce will be unhappy about being moved away from his prime time sunday slot after all these years. As for Kelly Osbourne doing the Surgery-well thats...inspired thinking I guess...

it was fairly obviously they were leaving. i wish them both really well. wes has done well after radio 1 so why cant they? i think its hard if you've come from such a background its takes a while to really settle. unlike mills who's come out of the early system and is no regarded as a respect, more "senior" member of radio 1, lets hope greg james developes and becomes as popular as mills, jk & joel and moyles.

its all way and saying its a shame they are leaving but they've had a good run and it appears that because times are changing, they are obviously see TV as their way forward. they seem to appeal to younger audience, it appears itv like people in pairs and these two are perfect.

radio 1 appear to have made some interesting changes and when i get a chance i'm interested to read what a few people have said here, as we're all so passionate about the station and its presenters.

im not sure what the extra half hour of moyles will achieve? why take that extra half hour from greg james? is he not able to cope with a three hour show? the main thing is to watch james develop into a decent presenter. he's the way forward and got a lot to live up too.

PS although many peole will be gutted that Edith Bowman has survived these latest changes unscathed I think the promotion of Nihal and Fearne and Reggie not to mention Dick and Dom being hired bodes ill for her maybe in around a years time when the next set of changes are made.At least you can console yourselves with the fact shes going off on 2 weeks holidays tomorrow-Coxys sitting in for her.

By the way in answer to a previous question Greg James will be doing early breakfast monday to friday- a massive gig for him so early in his career-have to congratulate him on that.I spotted his natural talent immediately thoughh.

im pretty shocked about these changes... i never in my wildest dreams thought that we would be saying goodbye to jk and joel i liked them covering for scott ... they should never have been thrown into the chart show so quickly.... but alas thats life.... greg james on the other hand is brillant a really good success story for someone wanting to get into radio....

fearne and reggie im not mad on and the inclusion of dick and dom doesnt inspire me either it will be like listening to their virgin train show....hello 5 year olds... its brillant that whiley isnt leavin and im glad edith isnt either just a pity edith hasnt moved to a different slot but hey... dave pearce and jules on fridays will be either good or bad ...we will find out within a month i think

and moyles bein on a extra half hour is great however it should be between 7am - 10.30am and not the other way around coz i wont be listening and i think moyles gets more awake later in his show not earlier...

intresting changes but we were expecting a few so bring it on...

Go on Add me to facebook or bebo you know you want to!

I do wonder whether this half an hour extra to Moyles is their way of saying 'hey, student radio DJ will be presenting early breakfast, but it's only 2 hours 30.' I assume he's not going to do anything like the retro (I hope that's not over and done with, fine feature that) or MyTunes that is pre-recorded. JK and Joel don't normally start live till 5.
