Think it will either be in Wales or the south coast of England. Bradford in 2025.

Unless its Wrexham in the North of Wales cant imagine it being anywhere near the south til 2030. I think it will be an England city as guessed last year my role over of jubilee/coronation new cities joins my suspects for 2024 but for 2025 to 2026 think will be back on the North of Ireland it would be nice as its been since 2013 since they’ve been to Ireland for Radio 1’s big weekend and would be good to have it near Dean and Nat’s home towns but wonder if location wise if it may come from in few years more cost effective locations with reduced travel costs. I think the south or central England for such reasons would be potential safe choice.

If it was nearer London I imagine the guests will be pretty top.

Wonder who’s who of the artists being selected for this years big weekend I think it would be a good pick and potentially the right year too have Dua Lipa headlining Declan McKenna, Last Dinner Party , CMAT, RAYE, Nothing But Thieves I’ll expect on thee line-up

Does Olivia Rodrigo have a gap in her schedule for May? Or am I misremembering. Still mad that artists like her (and I expect dua lipa) are gonna be pulling up to Luton…

Suspect Tom Grennan will also end up there as he is from bedfordshire.

Same weekend as Slam Dunk which is down the road if Big Weekend is in Luton.

Possibly the Sunday, she's in Amsterdam on Friday and Saturday. Not miles away, I suppose.

It feels odd that Glastonbury has made their headliner announcement and big name performers on the stages that are broadcasted across BBC before big weekend when big weekend is held a month before. Interesting they have gone for a big weekend vibe almost with with Dua Lipa, SZA, Olivia Dean, Little Simz and Burna Boy playing the pyramid and Disclosure, The Last Dinner Party and Nothing But Thieves on the other stage.

Yeah my first thought was wow, what a Big Weekend line up.  Even Shania had a lot of airplay on R1 recently with that Anne Marie song.  Overall seems like it's "missing something".  All fine artists (well I'm not too keen on Dua nor Coldplay but tons of people are) just nobody EXCITING.

I don’t mind Coldplay used to be my favourite band few years back still got couple of their albums on vinyl considering this will be their fifth time playing its hard to find this as an exciting booking for them. I know papers and other different music sources were rumouring that Madonna and Stevie Wonder was top choices to play and if they were booked they would be that that something. I get that vibe find the stuff on the Park Stage, Westholts and the Woodsies (old John Peel tent) have some of the best acts.

Do share that feeling.

Same time as most years for the Glastonbury lineup.

Similar balance of radio 1 artists to previous years, too.

So Friday's line-up comes out on Monday. Going to be really interesting to see how that evolves from the dance day to a mainstream day.

Having seen pictures of Raye last night it'd be a scoop to get her performing.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Friday line-up think maybe someone like Fred Again.would be a good choice. Raye having not been booked for Glastonbury this year would be a good book post BRITs to boost listening figures and IPlayer/TV ratings.

I still think Friday maybe dance heavy as since they are set to launch Radio 1 Dance on DAB+ radio it shows how mainstream and popular the genre is.

I’m going to take a stab at the headliners (based on who I think R1 have the budget for and who they’ve played lots in the past few months)

Friday: Fred Again..

Saturday: Usher

Sunday: RAYE

All 3 of these also have touring gaps where they’d be able to play big weekend.

Won't be Fred Again. He's said he's only doing Reading and Leeds in UK this year

Calvin is a probable because of Vick.

Raye and Dua Lipa are both high on list I imagine. Although with DL headlining Glasto maybe Beyonce

Friday is from 4pm to 11pm.

Saturday is from 12pm to 10pm.

Although I imagine they will have some pretty big hitters for Friday to encourage people to choose the shorter day instead of the longer one. It’ll probably be a dance act as headliner, so maybe Calvin Harris as suggested above, or perhaps Chase & Status.

    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
