Will you be on here on Xmas Day?

Quite likely. Christmas Day isn't overly special in this household any more since family have passed away or moved away. Plus it's easier to wish people Merry Christmas online than paying for texts which is unreliable at christmas!

I won't. It's the only day of the year when my whole family is together, so to be online would be rude and pretty pathetic I think.

I agree.

Maybe in the evening though, or REALLY early in the morning if I'm awake. My family opens presents when we are all awake, just depends on when we wake up!

I probably will be after I've stuffed myself with turkey and Christmas pudding. Normally it's just me and my parents on Xmas Day anyway 'cos the rest of the family live quite far away from us. And we only have a small house.

So save the last dance

I probably will, seeing as my dad is having Christmas Day on Christmas eve. (Makes no sense to me either but it's the only time my nan and her cousin can come down.) I don't see my mum until Boxing Day, so Christmas Day will be like Boxing Day, and Boxing Day and Christmas Eve will be Christmas to me if that makes sense.

I spend Christmas at my house with my parents, my sister, and my parents' friends and their daughter. It's just always been that way, every Christmas forever (apart from one year, when my parents' friends had flu, so we actually watched TV on Christmas day instead, which was weird.) We don't open the presents in my house till after we've had Christmas dinner, which usually happens at any time between 3-5pm, then we spend the evening playing Monopoly or something.

Last year, I went out on Christmas day to get more phone credit from a cash machine, because I was disorganised and ran out, and it was sunny and cold but blue sky, and the entire town centre was empty apart from a couple of people, it was so weird seeing the town centre empty, and the only time I have ever seen the station shut. This year I plan on going out for a walk on Christmas morning as well, it is really weird and cool.

I know what you mean. One year my mum was working until 2 so I was home alone in the morning... I decided to go for a walk, all I could smell was Christmas dinners, I was so hungry by the end of the walk!

I went for a walk around town too, to make sure my boss wasn't at work as he was joking that he'd be there. The town I live in is pretty tiny but it is really weird seeing it so empty. There were no shops open, no cars about, no people, nothing but me!!

I live in a huuge town where the station is open 24/7 apart from Christmas day, and the shops are open 12 hours a day all through December except for Christmas day. There are always people, cars, buses and trams around, so it is really weird to see nothing around except for cars and no people, no shops, nothing, when the sun is out and it's the middle of the day.

Same here. Though presents are usually opened straight away, then we have breakfast or whatever.

Most of the family are here throughout Christmas Day and it's very busy, then we either go to my Aunty's for a massive party or we have it here. It's been like that for as long as I can remember.

Ill be spending time with my family, especially my grandad because he's cool and tells me loads of storys about War. And ill probs be stuffing my face with good food and watching whatever they have instore for us on the box.

I probs wont have any credit as usual so might have to use the internet and the house phone to wish everyone a Happy Christmas.

Hmm, this could be one of the last proper Christmases together with my family. You never know what might happen next year after college!

This could be my last Christmas in the Uk, although I said that last year and we're still here haha

    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
    • Some similar names to Big Weekend.  Sabrina Carpenter, David Guetta, Perrie, Bradley Simpson, Jax Jones, Caity Baser, Benson Boone, Rudimental. David Guetta is a good name.
    • Still Scott for me. I'm not too much into the 70s and 80s radio 2 play but do love the injection of 90s and 00s. Then Radio 2 push for all this country stuff and it not a UK thing, and I frankly don't like it. Scott's show as in features, hit and miss. I like the music police bit, but it feels like someone needs to join him. It's a shame Chappers is so busy with sports, as it feels like it could do with someone like him jumping on to help. Or a new partner. Radio 1, take or leave. Matt and Mollie are OK from what I've heard and share a good connection, but it's the playlist that throws me off. They could bring back Chris Moyles to do that show, but as soon as something like Headie One comes on with that casino keyboard produced crap. It would still be switched off from me.
    • Reading through this thread, I don't feel quite so alone now, in thinking that Scott Mills on R2 is not a good 'fit' (even less so than on R5).  I can't quite explain why this is so - I just know it to be so.
