And they've been increasing three songs across all non-specialist shows from what I've heard!

What do you mean - three songs at the TOH followed by a ramp into the fourth?

That's how this all started off with NMF last april! 3 songs into a Ramp on the 4th or a Bed... i've noticed on a few shows they've tones it down a bit (still got the poorly inserted "GREG JAMES" on his shows though, wish they'd just change everything over now... although the move from Wogan House to the 8th floor for the imaging producers over the last few weeks probably hasn't helped that!

Really? The imaging producers weren't in the same building!?

If it sounded like that all the time then I would have accepted the current set longer!

I think Dev might be in trouble with someone who has produced the new ID's and someone at R1 overall. He had a bit of a moment this morning when he played a new ID with a dubstep music background and described it as, 'A bit pissy' so stopped and switched to an old ID halfway thorough. If you want to hear the incident again then listen to this mornings show and skip to 47:12.

I'm sure he said "busy" not "pissy".

The bed was pretty aggressive in fairness.

He probably meant 'busy' but it sounded like he said 'pissy' after listening to it a couple of times. :D

After listening to the bed it makes me wonder why they couldn't turn the volume down on it although presumably the DJ's have no control of it, hence the change of bed.

The DJs have complete control of how loud the bed is- it plays off a fader and they can bring it up and down as they like. Dev clearly just didn't like the particular bed and found it distracting to talk over.

When they were in Yalding House Matt definitely was in the same building, and I think he made the move to the 8th floor, but all the others were in Wogan house!

Adele Roberts is now using the new imaging and has a new name-check on her ID's now. I have to say I don't think I'm going to get as bored with the new imaging as quickly as the current set which starting to die now. The idents are great as well as the beds and everything just feels so much fresher than the current lot which doesn't get that wow factor compared to the new set. I wasn't sure about the Chris Eubank/Andi Peters male voiceover at first but I quite like him and has really got a different feel compared to the others, I don't need to describe the other voiceovers though as they are great!

I did notice that the only place you'd hear the old Where It Begins idents was at the start of Adele's show. Hopefully that'll be a proper end to the Pure Jingles package completely - the new sound is much fresher.

Trouble is though Clara is still using the old set so it still sounds inconsistent. I wonder what they will do to the power intros with the old voices in them. Will they modify them to use newer voices or not use them all together and remove them?

I wouldn't be too quick to rule out Pure Jingles. Why would they put these up online for people to listen to when a new sound by different company has already been introduced? I've previously said the new package by IMGR is a very unprofessional one and a mixup that sounds completely wrong to the station. Hearing the latest Pure Jingles selection is fresh and more professional, however they now seem something of yesteryear as our ears adjust to the new intros.

Clara playing some new ones today too. So far I've only heard one type of DJ name ID (the one where the name is shouted at the end), whereas before there were about 4. There could be more I haven't heard yet though.

A new Clara ID has been stuck on the beginning of one of the beds she uses as well - a missed opportunity to refresh them I thought, she's been using the same 3 or so since the show launched in 2015.

Also sounds like Scott's stopped playing his own beds, which is a shame cause they were really good and made his show sound a bit more distinctive - now he just uses R1 generic beds (other than for Bangers).

UPDATE: Never mind, I've just heard another ID, ignore me.

I'm guessing the Pure Jingles package will be dead by next week giving the fact that they nearly have completed the roll out after 100 years of easing the new set.

It seems to be a show at a time! Find it odd that Scott hasn't got ( / isn't using any) name Idents on his show yet thought?

Just listened to a podcast for the first time in a long time.

Can't quite believe they're still using imaging from the package which was last used 5 years ago. Craziness.

I know, it's kinda funny they're still on but there's no real need to change them- the jingles still sound good and they're two of the best voiceovers Radio 1 have had IMO.

Funny you mention this - as of Thursday on Scott's podcast, the old intro has been binned off in favour of someone saying "this is the BBC". Sounds rubbish - I hope it's not permanent.

The "this is the BBC" intro is the same across all of the podcasts - even on Radio 2 (yep, just checked)

I think if they're trying to push the all-encompassing brand, they need to adjust this to be a little longer. "This is content brought to you by BBC Radio. If you like it, add it to your favourites with the BBC iPlayer Radio app". Maybe. Something of substance.

Completely agree. Doesn't even say it's a podcast or give any kind of useful information. If I were R1 I'd stick something extra on to the end.

My favourite is the old one with the northern chap - Reardio Won podcasts. Downlord them for free at BBC.cor.ukeer slash reardio won. I have no idea whether you can type a northern accent but I just tried.

    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
