Meant to post this earlier on this week. Aled has mentioned on Twitter that he is returning to producing and he is going to produce Alice Levine's new Sunday afternoon show!

I was already looking forward to hearing Alice's new show, and with Aled producing it should be a really good listen, although it will still be a shame not to hear Phil and Alice together anymore.

Didn't mean to '?' Question him.

But if they are putting such a high level producer on that show- then it must mean it is going to move to weekday radio at some point.

And Alice is the perfect weekday morning presenter.

My thoughts also. Wouldn't be surprised if Alice moves to mid mornings April next year.

She's also sitting in for Fearne from monday august 25 to thu aug 28 which means she misses her last week with Phil ! Jameela is doing Fearnes show on fri aug 29 by the way. I think Alice Levine's overrated on here. She is very entertaining to listen to, similar to Sara Cox with her bizzare food related stories, but Sara Cox was also very technically able, and listening to Alice's daytime cover, she is not. It doesn't sound very slick, with her often not properly talking up to the vocals on songs and backtiming too early so she has nothing left to say into the news. She's good to listen to, but needs to improve her technical ability as a DJ. Hopefully Aled will help with that!

Think Alice knows how to drive the desk, she's just not that good at it. Doubt it, because if Jameela is allowed to drive the desk herself, Alice will!

I would assume by now Alice can do it. She's on her own enough without Phil

Do you think Aled will have to run the desk?

Sounds like Alice could be driving it during the links but Aled takes during the songs, sounds like he's slicking up the segues a bit like he used to for Scott (and Chris, although not so much). Although he may have done it before the show in dira and stuck it in automatic mode.

Is Aled Producing? I had thought that after Moyles ended he just did the surgery. Also, any Alice ID's from the show anyone?

He was only doing the surgery (and I think he's still in the playlist meetings), this is the first show he's produced since Moyles.

If my memory serves me correct he took some time out and then came back and was working on special projects with Beccy whe doing the Surgery.

You might be right there actually, I remember they did something together, wasn't sure if it was short term or long term though.

Talking of Beccy, I wonder what she's doing in the office these days..

I think Aled and Beccy both work for the Impact and Development team in Radio 1 which organise the special projects like R1BW and AAA. Now that Aled has the Surgery and producing Alice's show now, I wonder how much work he is doing for I&D now or just mainly show production...

    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
