What do you all think of the almighty fuss over the Eastenders "baby" storyline, with 6000+ complaints being received and actress Samantha (who plays Ronnie) being shouted at in the street whilst out with her family? (Get a grip, eh?).

A lot of females who have had (and tragically) lost children are understandably, I think, right not to want to be portrayed as "nutters" doing odd things.

However, no soap handles a powerful storyline better than Eastenders.... and, if it encourages women who have had (and lost) babies to seek help, rather than suffering in silence, then surely this can only be a good thing...

What do you think?

No doubt some of them are the kind of idiot who confuses the actress with actually BEING the character... (amazing how that even happens to the cast of stuff like Star Trek... I mean wtf? "Hey, where are your ridges on your forehead?" ), the same kind that phoned up to check if the Manchester Trams were still running after the Corrie tram crash and who also campaigned (along with The Sun, by the way, the paper tells masses what to think) to have a fictional character released from a Moroccan prison...

I think it was far worse that Hollyoaks continued with a murder storyline that included a body being found in some woods just a few days after Christmas Day... but that's not as high-profile as Eastenders.

Yep, idiots used to do that back in the 80s, when "Dallas" used to be the top soap!! J.R. Ewing used to get all sorts of stuff yelled at him in Airports by people who thought he was actual J.R.

Really? Hmmm that's in America though, maybe a little different. I mean they have people who mistake NASCAR for motor-racing... (how ridiculous it gets sometimes was actually fairly well portrayed in Talledega Nights)

The complaints are ridiculous, people were warned before hand... it's been brilliantly acted.

"it's not realistic" don't see them complaining about a tram crash or doctor who. Further, it is clearly apparent that Ronnie is a complete nut case.

Aaaand... I reckon a good half of the people have complained haven't even seen it, and have just read the daily fails comments.

Probably, like many of those that complained about Brand and Wossy's call to Andrew Sachs... I mean even Sachs himself said at the time it was no big deal.

It seems the story is being brought to a faster end. Whilst out today, I was reading that Kat finds out at the funeral of her baby.

Watch out for fireworks so spectacular they will be probably be seen in Australia.

Well, the front of a magazine I was reading today says all is to be revealed at the FUNERAL of the baby!! Maybe Eastenders filmed several episodes/endings.

Plus there was a picture of Ronnie sitting with Alfie, and the title "Secrets Revealed". Looked dramatic anyway!!

Well, that's not what the magazine I saw in Sainsburys... think it was TV Soaps .... looked like.

It's only a TV show; not real life. I think the fact that she stole that other woman's baby is a bit weird though...why? I thought it was supposed to be realistic!?

Anyway, I've never bothered with soaps (why do we call them that?!)

They're called Soaps as in soap operas, used to advertise soaps.

And since when is it supposed to be realistic... Tram crashes, mass murder (more than once in one village/ area) is pretty ridiculous. Anyone who thinks they are realistic is an idiot.

I really don't see it as a big deal at all. Nobody would complain if it was in a film. Who cares if they are dramatising Eastenders a bit? It's not actually real
