Maybe ratings have proven that there's a lot of kids tuned in. I dare say Colin had a massive following of adults but perhaps they saw a market for the younger audience there and wanted to exploit it. It must be true as they'd not move one of their hottest properties there if not. You can't blame them for trying with these strange strategies.

Colin was very good and it's going to be very sad to see him go. He was a good listen but at the same time I felt he wasn't mainstream enough for my liking. The music was good and there were treats. But I'd happily listen to local radio instead because I felt the music wasn't always strong.

If Grimmy can change the music style a bit I'll be impressed. He's going to have to do a Reggie to keep me tuned in though - mellowing himself out for a different audience.

It has to remain alternative at its core though. Otherwise the point of Radio 1 as a public service is non existant.

Just on the age thing, lots of my friends (17-18) listen to Murray, and are all pissed at the Grimmy takeover. Maybe they'll be convinced.

However, the trail made me laugh.

Yeah the trail makes me laugh too, daft Grimmy! I think that he will be fine, of course the die hard Murray fans won't like him at first but it's not like he has chucked Colin out of the slot.

Anyway, I never really listened to Colin but will defo be listening to Grimmy next week!

As for the trailer, the script goes something like this.

"We challenged you to wake up with Moyles,"

Clip of Moyles "Good Morning,...etc,"

"Which you did in your millions. Then, we challenged you to get home with Mills"

Clip of Mills, "Its amazing, this is where some dancing could happen!"

"Now, we ask you, all politely and stuff, to stay up with Grimshaw."

Clip of Grimmy, "Look, my crisp packet Matches my coat!"

I absolutely fell out of my bed laughing!!

Goodbye to Colin and good luck to Grimmy in his new evening slot! Im sure he will be fine, but as I personally dont like his voice or weekend show I dont think Ill carry on listening to evenings!

I predict it will be difficult for Grimmy as Colin's audience were so varied, and Colin has such a strong charismatic personality that he will be missed. Just think of the negative criticism Edith recieved when he left that show! At least Grimmy will be totally different, but he might have to totally reestablish an audience almost from scratch.

Not really - they all have to reapply for jobs and perhaps this one took her fancy more. I think there's more freedom in the evening.

i was never so sure of Grimmy's appointment on this show. but it could be worth giving a listen, for a little while. still think someone like rob da bank or huw should have got this
