  1. Well I'm sure if it was true Aled would have been told to remain professional and not make any further comment-hence the fact that he has should end all speculation surely?
  2. Damn, I was nearly right, I had Greg down as taking weekend breakfast and Dev replacing him on earlies.
  3. Yeah I don't think Chris was massively enthusiastic about the Awards but yeah he might have been there for Fearne, something to talk about showbizy on the show and a nice night out for Sophie, not forgetting a nice pay packet for presenting the award. Besides I don't think Chris is that bothered by these events anymore, he's become so used to them it's like he can go into auto-pilot and just sail through them taking in all the positives and ignoring the repetetive tedious negatives
  4. Well they don't have teachers and text books provided for re-sits anyway.
  5. Nah Jono, I think they'll have a seperate room for that-so it can continue throughout the set, people could have problems at any time you know!
  6. Somebody tell the MPs that the Daily Mail got there first-it's their agenda dammit! Don't let the MPs take that away from the Mail-they'll have nothing left to fill their venomous fish & chip wrapping.
  7. Not if you're 16 and you just don't like being patronized.
  8. I think he kind of fell into the job to be honest after working in BBC Monitoring centre getting the copyrights sorted they obviously thought they could just slap him in the job (it apparently consisted essentially of "button punching")-he certainly never had any qualifications and had a disc thrown at his head by Nicky Campbell on his first day. He was only in the job for a few months anyway until he became broadcast assistant to Chris.
  9. Yeah it's a hell of a lot of dosh for "quite like". Still loved Huws Muse News.
  10. Ashamed to say I played along-I gave myself half a point too for "Elly". Anyway at the end of it all I think it was terrible as a first show but there is room for improvement-but he can't improve it so much as so I like it in this slot.
  11. Yeah it's an odd mess right now, I think it's like when they had that Apprentice style show on CBBC. Colin Murray is The Apprentice Nick Grimshaw is the CBBC equilvalent. There's also been no structure to the show so far and it just doesn't have that "late night exclusive club" feel I don't think Chris will rip into Grimmy-even though I bet he would love to. Chris is obviously bothered by the amount of non-DJs on Radio 1-he breifly mentions it in his book but not in any real detail. Obviously if he slagged off Grimmy get in a spot of bother and possibly even lose some of the teeny bopper Grim-Fans which he desperatley needs to cling onto his job. I hope to God Grimmy doesn't get breakfast-if he gets it over Mills or Greg-I'm gone, plain and simple.
  12. See the thing is I've like all the music so far, loved some of it-but this isn't what I want from a night time show, I want the real alternative. I want stuff that would never be played during the day and so far while we have had stuff which is a bit more edgy, no one would bat an eyelid if any of it turned up on Mills or Whiley etc. Nah Annie Nightingale has gone too specialist now I think to be honest-don't get me wrong I love her show but she is dedicated the breakbeat stuff from now. Huw or Rob Da Bank were ideal for the show-Huw in particular if they wanted a young guy. Well Iain's a big fan of Danny's and he's not afraid to admit he nicks a lot of his material from Danny Baker & Tommy Boyd, he does tend to be quite honest about those things though.
  13. Not a direct criticism of the show in the sense that Nick isn't up for the job but-did he not just ruin the whole show by telling us every single song which is going to be on, thus ruining the element of surprise (which Colin's show had aplenty).
  14. Iain Lee (on Absolute Radio) has been doing it within the last few weeks too...
  15. We've already had a klaxon go off.... Sounds like it will be an indie show then. How eclectic an indie show is yet to be seen...
  16. Yeah but you are not just disagreeing with him, you're dismissing him. He hasn't picked and chosen certain shows he has listened to the whole station for a day and reviewed it based on that, he has looked at R1 as a whole-but the three things that he's criticised are the ones that have made the press because R1 is the most high-profile station and the station with the most tabloid interest. The reason I included "he says some very nice things about Terry Wogan" is to combat your frankly ridiculous idea of him running a vendetta against the BBC-I don't give a rats what your opinion of him is. Good luck with the free copy, maybe when you've read it you can come back with some proper arguments.
  17. Well the technology has changed completely since Dave was tech-op Jono, that was over 10 years ago!
  18. Happy Birthday. My god, does this make him 38???
  19. Exactly me_54m, it's charged at a national rate-so R1 can't get any money from it.
  20. Seriously mate, are you not reading my posts properly? It seems as if you're cherry picking which things you want to pick up on here. There has to be some crossover between the nighttime & daytime, that's where daytime gets much of it's music from (see my earlier post). Secondly, there are more than one reason for the listening figures to be up and unless the DJs choose to tell us (which Whiley doesn't) we never get to know the individual figures for a show-I'm sure Whiley does very well in the figures but you can bet a fair bit on not all of those people actually enjoying her and only listening by way of having radio 1 as a default station (myself included). Plus figures always go up this time of year Perhaps before you make silly statements you ought to find out what you are making them about. In the book John mentions several times how he has wanted to be involved in radio but no he isn't-however, in what way is that relevant? Can you not accept another man's opinion? Whiley & Bowman probably are far better than your average joe from the street at presenting a radio show but that doesn't mean people who wouldn't necessarily be as good as them can't comment on them negatively nor expect better! Again, if you had read my earlier posts in any great detail you would see that John has no "favourite station" and he is not condemning Radio 1 as a whole, he is merely offering his critique on 2 shows and the daytime music policy. In reviewing other stations he is also complimentary about some aspects of the station and less so about others-inevitably for some station there will be more of the positive than the negative and vice versa, but he's not choosing favourites. And finally-I think I may have mentioned this in all my other posts to you Alan, so please try and read this time round-he says some very nice things about all sorts of BBC shows and stations eg. Asian Network, Terry Wogan and the book is being broadcast on BBC Radio 4 ffs. This has nothing to do with your obsession with all things anti-BBC. It is simply 1 man's opinion on radio which he listens to in order to learn more about the medium and the people involved in it, not a cynical attack on the license fee or a personal attack on your favourite DJs.
  21. Yeah, I think there will have been a few tears during Nick Cave haha
  22. I don't think Grimmy will play Flaming Lips, Van the Man, Chemical Brothers, Ash & Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds either. Unless they become flavour of the month of course.
  23. I'm on board and I've heard every single show. Sent an e-mail earlier, I don't think it got through though. Why does my name say Kelly Osbourne by the way?????
  24. So has she kind of been de-moted? Going from Producer to Assistant Producer? I know it could be out of choice or something.
