Good luck to the GCSE peoples tomorrow.

It's truly horrible, and you may be cacking it, but you may be suprised with the results. I was expecting straight U's. I seriously thought i had messed up my gcse's after missing the last year of school. I ended up with 4 D's. Infact, as this thread has been running for yonks, if you look back, you might see my posts this time last year. So don't get too nervous, and don't put yourself down until you see the actual results :)

Meh.... 1 A*, 7 As and 2 Bs...

It's good really, and probably better than I was expecting, but I didn't get an A* in History, which I was expecting and all my mates have at least 4 A*s...

I know I shouldn't be disappointed but I can't help it!

They're brilliant results, Robbo!!!! You should be really proud of yourself - getting an A*in anything is a brilliant result - and 7 As, that's just fantastic. Don't compare yourself to your mates, you still passed all your exams with flying colours and that's the most important thing.

Give us the motivation, we can cause a sensation!

Don't people realise that GCSE results being good doesn't mean that they're ridiculously easy, and that we might actually be working hard, and thats what gets us the results?

In my opinion, B is the optimum grade to get. Anything higher means you actually concentrated in the subject and didn't have any fun at all. Anything lower means you didn't concentrate enough and probably put other people off.

I got 1 A, 7 Bs and 3 Cs.

Not really Rob, I had the most fun in Media Studies and English out of all my subjects.

Right, my results:

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Music - B. No idea how I pulled that off with regards to science, as I came out of Chemistry and Physics in tears. Maybe the examiner liked my illustrations all over the paper.

Maths, English Lit, Law - A. Gutted about Law, I wanted an A*. Pleased about Maths as everything I'd not revised/couldn't do came up on the paper.

Geography, Media Studies, English Language - A*. Nicely predicted Nati! I'm pleased about Media, it means I got over 97% on the paper and they thought my ideas were original.

I'm happy with that, and I got the documentation for the A and A* I got last years today too.

Woo! Well done everyone! And i may have been waiting for Grace to come and tell her results too Nati lol
That's fantastic Grace.:woo: Hope the parents are pleased too. Celebrations are definitely in order.

Haha, thanks both of you. My mum seemed a bit disappointed on the phone, I'm not sure why, oh well. I can't wait to get enrolled at college now. :D

Well done to Rik, Robbo and Rob too. (And anyone else who's got their results today.)

I'll do the full review if anyone's interested...

Design Technology and English Lit - B... Not too surprised about DT - did the best I could as I only picked it as I didn't want to do Art or Music. Bit gutted about English Lit, as I was predicted an A and I'm doing it for A-level, but Oh well.

RS, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Physics, History, English Lang - A... Surprised about RS, as the teacher was rubbish, and I was finding it hard, but apparently I got 94% on the 2nd paper, which is rather nice. I can't believe I got an A in Maths.. I was thinking a C, and Bs in the Sciences, so that was a nice surprise. English lit is fine, as A was what I expected, but gutted about History - I got the top mark in the year in my mock, and 49/50 on the History coursework, but obviously didn't do too well on the paper, as my teacher said it was only a mid-A.. Really wanted an A* as I want to do it at University, but, oh well, I had a look and a B at A-level seems to be good enough for history.

French - A*... Yay.. shame it's the only one, but I'm happy enough with that.

Congratz Grace, you did great!

I did actually wake up this morning wondering why people panic so much over GCSEs. I think the further up the ladder you go, the less significant previous exams seem. But they're still a test of your education and how smart you are, so I can see why people care a lot.

Whats everyones plans then?

Might get a sandwich, how about you?

;)

I know exactly what you mean, to me (sorry people, dont have a go) GCSEs feel so much easy now compared to A levels!

Just remember to not only work hard but play hard next year too!

I can say the GCSEs are much easier than A-levels but (can't believe I'm going to say this) they weren't as fun.

Further Maths this year was the best ever maths I've taken. It was actually fun because it was difficult *ducks* *covers*

But I'm kind of twisted like that.

Well done to all of you. Have as much fun as you can have of what's left of this summer.

Tara you're just like Charlie off of Numb3rs... Although he did graduate when he was 13 and wrote his first maths paper when he was 14 and .... well what I'm trying to say is I'm sure he'd find A Level Further Maths exams enjoyable too!!!!

Give us the motivation, we can cause a sensation!

I love Charlie too - in fact I named my cat after him!! Cos I'm a saddo. And also cos Charlie's a proper boy's name and my cat is a proper boy cat. He looks like his name's Charlie if you know what I mean. Anyway. Numb3rs is great. The End.

I do remember really looking forward to all my English exams, especially Language where I could just totally let rip with writing a story. I loved pulling books to pieces in Literature as well and just get everything out of them that I possibly could.

So yeah I'm a weirdo too!!!!!

Give us the motivation, we can cause a sensation!

    • Arielle is in for Greg on Monday 27th May.
    • He’s definitely gotten better and the show has sounded fine this week. I think it been at its best when it’s been Katie and Jamie or Vick and Katie. Vick and Jamie are ok together, but I do think the show sounds better when it’s Vick and Katie and therefore I still don’t really understand the point of the trio.    Jamie is, however, a lot better than Danny Beard!
    • The RAJAR coming on later this year reflecting later summer to autumn will be interesting to how it reflects Matt and Mollie in afternoons to the revised changes on radio 1’s new music slots and the schedule re-shuffling Radio 3 introducing a new slate of programmes. Then, later on this year have speech radio stations having domestic political coverage of the election but also America’s presidential election.
    • I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.  It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.  Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.
    • Agree with this. The anti-Jamie feeling was IMO quite influenced by the negativity around him replacing Jordan, since Jordan was exceptional and also universally loved. When people mention Danny and Jamie in the same sentence about bad hiring decisions I almost choke - Jamie may not be perfect but he's several leagues better than Danny already and has bags of potential. Danny is poor and has shown zero potential...
    • Jamie started 4 March, and the figures only going up to 31 March, so it isn't reliable. But it has shown the numbers have dropped in afternoons compared to last quarter. It looks like it's Capital's gain.
    • Do these audience figures reflect Jordan leaving and Jamie replacing him?
    • I think Jamie is really starting to settle into the role well. He comes across as really warm, and genuinely invested in the listeners when he’s talking to them which is nice. I think he’s building a really great relationship with Vicki and Katie too. His recent great company podcast is great too, where he has quite a deep chat with someone new each week. He’s clearly a very genuine person and I think he has some real potential.
    • Most probably. But do wonder what the future of the relax themed programmes will be when they officially wind down that service.
    • I think it's just to replace Wind Down presents... which was in that timeslot, and I'm guessing Chillout Anthems was just a buffer since it'll still be played at 06:00 on Sundays.
    • With listening on the U.K. for the industry in general it is good overall as most stations reach is on the up and shows radio to be more sustainable and stable outlet than linear televisions channels. This RAJAR I think with the increase shift to DAB+ the BBC will be able to say it has it’s audiences for the proposed new stations it wishes to launch and think the new innovative ideas that it seems Jack himself can take credit for on the new music show think the younger under 30 gen z demographic could increase se in that time-slot.
    • Conor Knight is in for Sam & Danni on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June. It's Radio 1 at Parklife, 13.00-16.00 on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June. Matt & Mollie are in for Greg from Monday 10th to Friday 14th June - it's just Matt on the Thursday. It's Radio 1 at Download, 13.00-16.00 on Friday 14th June.
    • Rajar looking healthy this quarter, with the numbers staying fairly stable.
    • It's made it into the Daily Mail as another reason to bash the station. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13417631/bbc-radio-2-facebook-tiktok-instagram.html
    • I expect that the axing of Chill Out Anthems may be related to the decommissioning and shutfdown of Radio 1 Relax. I assume soon BBC could announce or make official when it’s going to be shutdown
