James was a great listen doing the chart while I was driving home. More chatty and natural (similar to when Jordans on it) which was refreshing. I even listened through songs I don't particularly like because I found the presenter entertaining.

It's clear chart only has quick links but even in those he made the mariah link his own and joked about cutting it off for newsbeat. Playing actual Chase and Status the clip of Mollie doing Baddadan was also funny, again made it his own rather than 'a chat with an artist'.

I guess it's as much can be done, but do think he's somewhat wasted on shows like chart as his regular covers for Matt & Mollie are brilliant with callers, on target original topics and a set of his own features. These always come across as down to earth, warm with lots of funny lines from him, maybe that's why it connects. Hopefully we get to hear some more of him on those sorts of shows soon.

Credit to Radio 1 for using talent like James, management clearly like him and rightly so as he's got the 'this presenter is actually good and I want to keep listening to this show' vibe, rather than ffs what is this. I rated the Mollie and james duo idea too that was a first and think that will come up again. RN he's the stand out as getting a show in 2024, feels like he's on that cusp that Jordan was when he went from dep to full time presenter

Whisper it, folks, but ... Every time someone stands-in for Jack Saunders, the show has improved.

Credit where it's due - Every time JS has stood-in for Clara Amfo, that's also improved matters - but that's quite a low bar!

I dont agree i think Jack has really upped his game on the chart recently and the way he announced the beatles at number 1 was great

I think he’s a good presenter and really like him on future sounds but I do find when tried listening to him on future artists. It found few years into the shoe he’s talking as if it’s first ever show in slot if it was bit more calm and gentle presentation for the show and not overbearing that it’s high octane energy find Jack does end up with repetition of churning out same lines and phrases.

I do think they could do some good cutting the running time of the chart show to me as a programme it doesn’t need to be or shouldn’t be a chatty programme and considering how many weeks a track spends on the chart. The charro itself could be something more fast paced playing less tracks and or consider trimming the track lengths down as shorter cuts of show like the chart a chat with the artist is more preferable than doing in-house station humour.

Yeah, not taking anything away from Jack, it was just a refreshing change. I'm not sure that I agree with it being shortened any more. It sounds like they already drop a lot of songs and at 1 hr 45 minutes, it's very short.

I think the fact that James managed to get chat, personality and wit in here brought it to life. Although I do still think he's a brilliant presenter outside of this show and much more suited to the daytime cover shows they have him do.

I believe a few said it in the chat @lochnessa @StormcloudR1 but James was again spoke about on a few forums today and showed that he's brilliant and shines with anyone.

He was paired up with Nat today, who can have a select audience at times, but he brought it right back down to earth. A funny presenter with loads of personality that can cut through a somewhat posh outlook at Radio 1 and make it feel relevant to northerners.

With Jordan working for the main competitor, he still reminds me of a jordan scott hybrid and someone they should keep a hold of

    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that

    • Did you note down everyone who was on Sunday and at what times? I managed to get: Charlie H 11-1, Oré 11-1, Dean 11-1:30, James 11-1:30 Greg 1-3, Vicky 1-3, Danni 1-3:30, Matt 1-4, Jamie 1-4, Charlie T 3-4:30 Lauren L, Sam, Nat and Swarzy all joined from 3:30 but didn’t manage to listen back in time to know what happened after this.
