interesting but nothing of use to us down south i hope they are going to sort out tickets for you jono for keeping this operation going!

I agree, Jono should get tickets as a reward for all the hard work he puts in on UM day in day out, year in year out..the mods probably should get a ticket too.

UM is a nice place

The map is all to do with Perplex City's alternate reality game apparently.

http://perplexcitywiki.com/wiki/Silburn-Griggs

Leading us to this - http://www.silburngriggsmining.com/ and the about page containing FIA over the page.

And if you search deep enough you find this page - http://www.silburngriggsmining.com/projectfia/ revealing that tickets will be given out in certain locations over the next few days.

Gutted if in fact it is just for the North West.

Sorry to jump in here but I feel that you might want an explanation about the whole Perplex City thing.

First, I am a mod on the Perplex City section of unforums. I am not a part of Mind Candy (the company who runs the Perplex City ARG) just a long time player.

First, a little background. Season 1 of the ARG finished a few months ago and involved us finding "The Cube" which was stolen by the "3P" (3rd power). We made many discoveries including that Cyrus Quinton (mentioned on the projectfia page) aranged for the theft of the cube, via a team of people, and also aranged for a number of them to be killed!

In the end it turned out violet (one of our contacts in Perplex City) stole the cube and got teleported to Earth, the cube was burried and then Violet got teleported back to Perplex City.

During the hunt some members of the 3P also teleported to Earth (including V(Cyrus Quinton) apparently) and now Cyrus appears to be inside the BBC.

At One Big Weekend: Aparently they are going to be testing something called a "neural override" device, we don't know what this is and only found out about it at 9pm last night on Violet's Blog.

This is what is known as a "Live Event" in the ARG world, where the game and the real world interact. You can expect anything from a Perplex City live event but previously there have been helicopters, spys and morse code shined towards the London Eye (which was never solved).

I invite anyone interested in finding out more about this over to the unforums Perplex City section to get involved in the discussion there, people will be willing to answer your questions and if you need any help feel free to PM me (I'm poozle there as well).

I would also like to thank you for all of your work here, without it we would have never got the link between it all and would probably still be listening to Radio 1 trying to find out what we are meant to find out about Radio 1.

I am just wondering how open all the DJs are going to be after 'it' - whatever it is, is all over and done with. I wonder if they'll speak about the subliminal messages, Mr Khan's Oscar winning performance etc.

I'm HOPING they won't be, one of the main points of something like this is for none of the "behind the scenes" to come out until the VERY end of the story, and if it links into the main story of Perplex City Season 2 then that could be a LONG time away, of course we don't really know if this is part of Season 2 or what, all we know is it is linked into Perplex City some how. Of course being linked in with Radio 1 I imagine all of the DJs are "in" on "it", possibly even some of the acts playing at 1 big weekend, this is probably one of the first times an ARG has linked with something THIS big in the real world and so I don't know what will happen.

I'm sorry but you lost me in your first post about Perplex City.

I can imagine Scott has already been dying to make some crack about it or drop a hint.

I'm not suprised tbh, its quite hard summing up 2 years of a game in a small post to people who've never heard of it.

And I know what you mean, I can imagine Scott would have wanted to say something the whole time and not being able to mention it would have made it worse.

Also by the look of the secret page on the silburn griggs site (near the bottom of the hidden page) there will be more things coming up on the radio, things to do with "subliminal messaging".

So, as I just mentioned over on another thread...

There are 15 pairs of tickets up for grabs. You can get friends in the area to pick them up for you if you can't make it there yourself. I'd make sure it was someone you can trust, though... ;-)

The main thing is to get people along to the Big Weekend who have followed this investigation for a while - yes, the real fans. You deserve those tickets, so have a go at getting them!

Keep an eye on this page: http://www.silburngriggsmining.com/projectfia/

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Mr Denchfield our lovely puppetmaster :)

Will look at the page after work but no doubt many others will have been there first by then .

Thanks for your good wishes to those who've been taking an interest. I'm still hoping someone off of UM will get to go and Jono should get to go anyway, the amount of publicity this site generates for Scott and Radio 1.

Just my opinion of course. Now will have to go before I get fired!

Woah. Crikey! I thought I was a geek and all that... I'm still uncertain about this 'new level' though

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19154

Thanks ;) I think most of us Perplex City players are uncertain about the new level as well, being tied in with a BBC thing is something none of us ever expected, and we don't really know what to do with it, other than wait and see really.

This story has had more twists an turns over the last few weeks so I'd be shocked if it all comes to an end with the ticket giveaway.

Trust me, it won't end with a ticket give away, expect anything, at the very least something played over the speakers, could be as big as helicopters though (the 3P (exil Perplex City people) seem to have a penchant for them).

    • I think they should just bring that back as was. It's been nearly 20 years, so do it with a whole bunch of new DJ's.
    • I think this year has taught us we know nothing 🙂 Nobody would ever have credibly predicted Jordan leaving and all the changes that followed.   I have another interest outside radio and it is exactly the same - the stuff you never expect to happen is exactly what does.
    • Yeah they make the weekend shifts go so much quicker. Like today, the piece about Matt falling asleep in the cafe was funny, it's clear to see why they're going to weekdays. It could well be they were thinking of Danny for it and like you say have decided against that, or like I said at the start it's James Cusack and the slow down on the announcement is him getting out of his contract. Remember he works for radio 1's main rivals. I think it's quite telling that he's doing more r1 cover than usual, tomorrow and then a further 3 weekend shows in a row
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky between the 28th-30th May.
    • I suspect they’re gonna tie the announcement into something, or they’ve changed plans. I know we’ve said it as a joke but I wonder if Aled was planning on giving it to someone like Danny Beard, but he’s decided against that after the last few weeks. Seems clear to me, though, that if Jordan hadn’t left, then Katie would’ve taken Dean and Vicky’s slot and Matt and Mollie would’ve stayed on weekends, which probably explains why they haven’t picked a replacement yet. If it was going to be the obvious choice, I.e. James Cusack, surely they would’ve announced it by now..?
    • Yep think they mentioned that this is their penultimate weekend of shows but then they will also be on air during Big Weekend and they mentioned they'll be doing 'Party Anthems' on stage during Big Weekend which sounds intriguing. Will miss Matt & Mollie on weekends - they in particular have made that Friday afternoon slot their own - but they'll be great on weekdays. Do wonder if 'Summer on Radio 1' is just a placeholder name until they decide on who will cover the interim. While it's obviously not the case it does feel like they've forgotten there's that weekend afternoon slot to fill given no permenant presenter has been announced for it yet.
    • Zoe Ball is back on the breakfast show on Monday.
    • Just listening to matt and mollie at work and heard them say it's their second to last show on weekends
    • And Arielle mentioned in her Instagram post that her final early breakfast show is the 27th of June - the Thursday before Glastonbury
    • When Matt covered breakfast on 22nd April, he said their new show was starting in 10 weeks, so that’d be the 1st July.
    • Would love for it to be like the Summer Friday Thing that me and @DC were remisincing about recently. Lots of events going on that could easily form part of it.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/summer/cardiff/thursday/1.shtml
    • I'm guessing there is also a stack of weekend events like Glastonbury
    • I think more likely it'll just be a temp presenter for weekends 1-4 to give Matt & Mollie time off, plus time to plan and pilot the new show.
    • Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
