Does anyone think there's a period where deaths seem to be cropping up a lot? My great aunt's funeral is tomorrow. I think we'll have some significant celebrity deaths soon :|

I went home this afternoon then went to the orthodontist, and the stupid man told me I haven't been wearing my retainers, when I have. I can't wait till I don't have to go back there again.

.

We had a celeb death in Perth yesterday morning. All of those who have been to Perth will know Jeannie Rattray our local drunk, she died yesterday morning in the high street (most probably propping herself up on a bench)

I got an E in my latin mock I did yesterday.. but only one mark off a D. I only need a... B in Latin to get into Nottingham :( kinda worried right now. But I got an A in the geography essay I wrote on friday, so it wasn't all bad. Today I saw the third doctor in 3 weeks, and he thinks I might have asthma.

John, how are you today? A boy from our school died of cancer last week and there was a funeral for him yesterday in school. It's really sad, he was only 15, even though I didn't know him that well.

Asthma isnt the end of the world Lucinda, I've not got 3 inhalers to use, being overweight as I Am doesnt help the condition but when I was diagnosed with it as a child the asthma lay dormont for a good number of years.

I know it's not. I'd rather it was something they could sort out though because this cough just isn't going away and otherwise it's just a nasty virus. My sister developed asthma last year and my mum had it a lot when younger. But they said it's minor. The doctor asked me to blow into the peak flow thingy and I did but not hard enough and he said, "if you were breathing like that you'd be dead". I'm fine at the moment with most exercise, just not sustained running.

I've been trying to learn Latin and falling asleep. Kennedy's Latin Primer has to be the oldest textbook still in general use - had a minor update in 1930, but otherwise just the same as the Victorian book. I don't understand a word of it, but apparently reading it is the key to success in my Latin. It's all confusing points of grammar, and half the time the English words are obsolete and make no sense. Also when something translates as "whither" or "thither" or "whence" it is not particularly helpful in 2006.

I'm having a pretty bad day. Completely lost my voice this morning which wasn't a great start. Got it back at around 10:30am. Spent half an hour finding bread so I could make myself some toast. Then I found out that I owe my latin teacher 5 pieces of work, none of which I had any idea about, which will take me a few hours each... and some other work I thought I'd done from 2 months ago has disappeared so I guess I'll have to do it again. Got an economics mock later as well and then another one of monday for a different module. I know A levels aren't easy, but I'm having a lot of trouble at the moment.

a real emotional rollocoster ride of a day today..this morning went fine usual day and I was ONE mark yes One mark off a B in my geography exam *is rather annoyed* Period 3 went fine I got told that I would make a good door stop one day cos we were recording in music and I had to stop people from coming in the studio.

Then this afternoon was just really bad, there was an awful atmosphere in school, there was a couple of ambulances and a couple of guys in black hanging..we didnt really think much of it(thought it was like a

KS3 learning event) until we were told in double science that one of the science technicians who had a brain tumour had died whilst working in school :|

    • Agree, all I'd see on x was medical professionals from other health trusts having a very carefully worded pop at each other, mixed in with a clip of jeremy vine with a camera on his helmet, a very strange place indeed! I imagine they have some data to back it up, but is the r2 audience really using tiktok?
    • I get not putting resources into X which these days is a strange mix of angry political debate and adult content only. But you'd think Facebook was still the most popular social channel amongst Radio 2 audiences.
    • Radio 2 seem to have decided that their strategy is just short video, so it does probably make sense with Instagram and TikTok. But I find it hard to believe there's not longer form content that wouldn't suit Facebook better.
    • These late announcements are so lacklustre. It's not quite like the time they announced Harry Styles last minute!
    • Friday - Nathan Dawe, Wilkinson Saturday - Jax Jones Sunday - London Grammar, Remi Woolf, AJ Tracey
    • Probably got fed up of the usual moaning bastards all over it, asking for Ken Bruce and Jimmy Young back on air.
    • Think it may have been better to include Radio 1 in this and 1 xtra ultimately focus on boosting a BBC Sounds social media to bring the multi-generational content marketed to a broader audience through one singular channel and having a separate social brand skewed to younger audiences maybe they should consider just having a @BBC @BBCSounds  @BBCSport @BBCNews @BBCFresh (youth brand) social media acounts national.
    • Although a lot of their target audience do seem to be moving across to Instagram now.
    • I suppose it's because not a lot of people use Twitter (or X) so maybe it's not worth their time, surprised about Facebook though.
    • Surprised to learn Radio 2 and 6 Music are moving away from X and Facebook, I would have thought there's more appeal in Radio 1 doing that instead. Their target audiences still use Facebook, and it's still a key way to reach a good mix of audiences. Agree about X though, don't see any need for it. https://radiotoday.co.uk/2024/05/bbc-radio-2-and-6-music-quit-facebook-and-x-publishing/
    • Just wondering…has any DJ got the answer wrong yet? I’ve not heard one and they are pretty tough questions! 😆
    • On the weekends theme @Bluestraw said this in the chatbox but I was listening live to James cusack's show yesterday and agree it would be a travesty if he doesn't feature in the weekend plans. Both the greg james fb page and users on digital spy are saying similar. Imagine that, being both part of the LGBTQ+ community but able to appreciate good presenters in 2024.
    • Tara Kumar is in for Sian on Tuesday 4th June.
    • I think at least part of the problem is that a lot of Danny's act is based around Drag humour which (a) isn't for everybody (b) has to be so tamed down for daytime radio, it just becomes silly and (c) it is humour generally consumed on a night out with lots of alcohol taken!
    • Oh boy, if that's the case above then what are they trying to do at r1? If Danny was put into weekend afternoons that's one hell of a faux par and a big nail in the coffin. While ok, Nat and Vicky aren't about to blow the doors off and are only there as the fallout of d&v, but to then follow that up with Danny for 3 days a week. Come on. To go from a place where we had Katie followed by M&M to that. What happened to the prestigiousness of r1? Do they need reminding they've just lost Jordan? It's getting embarrassing. Like I said before, when I had people with 0 interest in radio whatsoever and it was in the background telling me to turn it off, you know it's bad. I saw a random friend from years ago even posting on fb with how has someone like Danny ended up on r1. Everywhere you turn its negative. Doesn't that multiply across the uk in what the r1 audience actually think of this presenter? I'm in the LGBTQ+ community and also r1 target audience but I don't feel I want to listen to this presenter because of that fact. Has some policy actually overtaken the true risk of driving audiences away? The fact is just how @coffeeandgin said, Danny has had chance since March with 2 shows a week and is still not up to the job. The odd podcast yes but certainly not to replace m&m! I've skipped through 10 minutes of this week to make sure I wasn't basing opinions on how it was before and yes it is the same level. When you had presenters like Scott who could keep it fresh despite how many years it had been, but then Danny sounds so out of date already, saying you could tune over to Rylan on r2... but then with a topic of "I want to know what have you missed out on?" I'm sorry?! What kind of local radio is that... it's meant to be radio 1 ffs. Terrible talking points, cringe, unfunny, and so bad on the radio it actually makes it jarring and makes people switch over.
