I think she’s up there for the music broadcasters up there with John Peel, Mary Anne Hobbs, Zane Lowe, Annie Nightingale and Pete Tong kind of think they should really name studios at Radio 1 in NBH after the most prestigious broadcasters think Clara doing the Chart, live lounge and soon the flag ship music show may end up in high regard. I kind of think it would be good to maybe tempting to do couple of twitter World Cup polls like Richard Osman and other accounts did on other stuff but on Radio 1 stuff

Clara isn't even in the same league as Annie and her spell hosting the charts was hardly long enough to be ground breaking. She has a long long long way to go before being compatible to some of that list.

I said in the basis of you haven’t seen the best of her yet possibly Jack Saunders in the league one day

With the greatest of respect the best description of her live lounge slot would be extremely safe pair of hands, she hasn't torn it up or done anything ground breaking with it. Annie truly is in the once in a generation category and it will be some years before someone else comes along and does the same thing.

@1_twyour right and concur with what you said. Right it withstand it would be hard to be that once in a generation broadcaster but probably will be remembered as other presenters Jo Whiley, Fearne Cotton who are good music presenters feel like with Clara it will be interesting to see what would be added to her show and what she does with it. She will likely be at least inspiration for young black women who want to work in music presenting and champion mainstream talent. But yes I see your point and do agree it would be hard to get the culture changing landmark name that Annie Mac and Nightingale, Pete Tong, John Peel will be remembered as.

Indeed, although i think she will be great in the Future Sounds slot and it will showcase her love of music. It will be interesting to see if there will be a noticeable difference in the style of music championed. I get the impression, especially where dance music is concerned, that Annie had a big hand in the artists she supported. Although, i imagine Clara will still be required to support these dance artists during Future Sounds.

Having both FS, and the Dance Party... there was huge crossover with the artists and music supported. Will the show be exactly the same or will there be a change up? Hottest Record will stay, that's for sure.

I mean remember Zane Lowe really did play a mix of different genders but Annie did deliver bit more of moods and seemed more different ratio of genres ratioed in the show as seemed to play more hip hop rap and dance stuff of course matching the what is released and shaping the sort of future mainstream. I think Clara and Danny won’t probably have the same impact in the slots as Annie did as said. Feel yes Dance will still be covered but think will hear artists and stuff that Clara slipped in from her odd one or two tracks from time to time where presenters have bit of say like with tune of week and possibly more Rap, RNB, possibly some pop sounds but real mix I’d imagine to continue it

Agree with you - and let's also remove Mary-Anne Hobbs from that list. Her R1 impact is - in one word - forgettable!

Personally I'd separate Jo and Fearne into very different groups. Jo clearly has / had a major interest and understanding of new music, whereas Fearne was simply a decent R1 music presenter.

I agree with you that Clara has an opportunity now on Future Sounds to either become hugely significant, or to 'just' be a competent presenter who - I agree - is inspirational for young black women.

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
