one striker, ameobi who is far from form. owens brilliant but he is injured for the whole season so thats not so brilliant. they just lost (retired) probably one of the best strikers england has ever had. and their defence is still crap. they need to spend some money, a lot of it.

Parker, Solano, Emre and Given are probably the best players they are got, the rest are just average.

Newcastle are so predictable. One of these teams with no forward (time not playing stlye) thinking in the players they sign. Some real crap they've had in their team over the last two years. All the money they've spent and then you look at the squad and still shake your head. It's the mentality of "we have to buy players to win now" that messes them up all the time, they should take a look at how Man U built their team in the mid 90's and how Tottenham are building a team now, youth with the odd big investment. Newcastle are not a big team but are under the illusion that they are which is why they always fail.

They always say that and then it comes out a week or so later that they were. I like DOL, he did a great job for Leeds, its just a shame that whichever club he goes to he has sh*t chairmen (Peter Ridsdale and Doug Ellis)

i know. well nothing is good at chelsea... thats why nothing or no-one is talented or any good at chelsea right? newcastle wasted money buying a player from a team that cant beat no-one. they will never win any title...

no seriously duff is an ace player. what a buy for newcastle, they are taking owens injury seriously and making sure they have good players as backup. hopefully owen wont be rushed and when he is fit we should see some good football. still, why is parker captain? should be given.

I think they decided it's best to have a captain who is on most of pitch so see's all the players. I mean if a striker needs talking to from the captain for example to tell him to calm down or he'll get sent off, Given wouldnt be able to that.
