I'm no expert at controls at R1, but for me it sounds like the TOTH/BOTH songs are pre-mixed on a Friday and the DJ's only have to press one button to play those three songs. Weekends however seems like a mix of one-piece pre-mixed songs and some where the DJ's have to press a button for each song.

I've noticed R1 have started using shorter power intros for some songs, 'Shout Out To My Ex' and a redone 'Sweet Lovin' power intros come to my mind.

I have been very reliably informed that the power intros WILL be taking over full time, and that lots of exciting new imaging is "about to drop".

Fun times for us nerds ahead.

Wooooooooooooo! Reliable informed by who (if I may ask)? Did you email someone at R1? If so my money's on Aled. Although would he use the phrase "about to drop"? Maybe not.

Also, as far as I'm aware it's up to the DJ to start the news ramp at 29:48 - it doesn't get played automatically.

Yes, they've got about 7-8 seconds to get a small speech in before the "This is BBC Radio 1" tagline comes on. I've noticed Scott cuts it fine a lot, and leaves barely half to 1 second. Alice Levine, her approach is different, calm and clear, I like it. It's always a "Time for Newsbeat now with Duncan Middleton. The time is 2:30." Rarely does she say, "It's 2:30 and here's Newsbeat with Duncan Middleton.

Grimmy's timing for Newsbeat is always off. Barely does it get broadcasted dead on the hour or half hour. Usually a few minutes late because he is insistent on playing a song at 56,57,58 or 26,27,28 past the hour. Recently Newsbeat came on at 8:35. Shocking.

Evidence please?

So he is the moron who probably ended up with the mish mash we currently have. Well it's about time one clear brand was played.

I wouldn't exactly call the lead imaging producer at BBC Radio 1 a "moron" but each to their own.

I'm here for the ride guys! :D

Brilliant to hear that we are getting closer to a full package of new imaging is coming. Based on what we have been hearing, it looks like the V2 NMF voiceovers will be taking over full time and the 'Where It Begins' tagline will remain. Hopefully we stick to one set of voiceovers rather than a mix of the three we are hearing so far. Cel's show has had some fantastic new imaging rolled in with the new voiceovers in it, some of it sounds very commercial/Capital like but it doesn't matter because they are amazing.

On the subject of the voiceovers, I've identified that one of the new voiceovers is Rachelle Abbott who is the voiceover on the Residency show. I haven't identified the rest of the V2 voiceovers though, I think 3 of them are new while one of them sounds like a female voiceover from the 2012-14 package.

2017 sounds like the year of #WhereNewVoiceoversBegin!

Well he is probably responsible for the messy imaging currently being spread across. If it's not him then whoever created they 3-way thing is a moron. As I've said before it's not a clear direction. Even if the 2014 ones are ditched (a big mistake) there will still be 2 remaining packages. The Mike Wooller ones that crept their way in earlier this year as part of NMF are the better ones.

On the other hand, the that fact it has taken most of this year to squeeze the new ones in is highly unprofessional. Making us believe we are getting a station mix up, when they're really trying to pull the carpet from underneath us by eventually removing the 2014 package. When the 2014 package launched it mainly all came within hours on one day, with various other sounds replacing old ones over the next few months. This though, they think we're not noticing, they should look more carefully.

Made a new thread on this, didn't notice your comments until now, I left my thoughts over there.

Also, it looks like we shouldn't be accrediting any in-house teams for the power intros, but instead www.imgr.com. Looks like a drag and drop kind of system that R1 would subscribe to.

Was just about to put this but beaten again, Completely forgot about IMGR as an option for this!

    • Tara Kumar is in for Alyx on Sunday 13th July.
    • Conor Knight & Lauren Layfield are in for Matt & Mollie on Monday 14th July.  Matt is solo on Tuesday 15th July.  Jerry is in for Mollie between Wednesday 16th & Thursday 24th July.  Maia Beth is covering Future Pop on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd July. On Sunday 27th July the Chillest Show is reduced to an hour, and 20.00-21.00 is a BBC Proms special with JADE. On Thursday 31st July 18.00-20.00 in place of Jack's show it's the Dance Party Warm-Up with Danny Howard (ahead of the Ibiza weekend).
    • Dean McCullough in for Greg w/c 4th August. James Cusack on EB.
    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
