As they announced after six last night, Scott and the team are back at the Edinburgh festival this year. Find out on today's show what they'll be doing.

Thank you for making a thread on this subject, otherwise I wouldn't have found out.

When is Edinburgh Festival? Because I'm going to London, so I might even be able to come.

That's amezzin'!!! If Scott will be there at a day between 4 and 19 August I might be able to go!

Scott's flatmate is appearing at the Fringe again this year, although the program says it starts at 00.20 for an hour.....

Edit: OMG.... that sounds totally AMEZZIN' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The TOTDS will probably just stand on stage for 30 minutes and not say anything...........

August 16th (madonna's birthday)

Well, there's the answer of what Scott can do at the fest... 30 minutes of answering questions about his life/career/whatever, and requests to perform Madonna songs!!

Sorted.

this is what @ThePleasance have tweeted today: "Our favourite DJ Scott Mills is in now filming for his challenge at the Festival this year. We are looking forward to having him back in Aug". www.twitter.com/ThePleasance

I was out all day yesterday so didn't hear any of this, what exactly is Scott and the rest of the team doing this year? If its a show I'm very much up for going or is it an OB with guests and features from people appearing in Edinburgh this year?

I actually can't wait for the festival, thank god I work in the mornings :D

BBC Radio 1 is returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe next month, with DJ Scott Mills facing his toughest challenge yet in front of an entertainment-hungry audience.

Following the huge success of last year's Scott Mills The Musical, which played to a full house over three nights and received rave reviews, this time Scott and his team, Beccy and "The One That Doesn't Speak", must write and perform their own one-man show.

One person, one performance. What they do will be up to them – music, comedy, dance, physical theatre, opera – but can any of them create a five-star success? Or will they be heckled from the stage?

Scott Mills said: "We had a great time broadcasting from Edinburgh last year so it's brilliant to have the chance to spend the week in Scotland and get involved with the Fringe again.

"After the musical I thought I'd never be as terrified again – but l am! What shall I do in my one-man show? What would you do? I have no idea!"

From 16-20 August, Scott's Radio 1 show (4-7pm) will be live from Edinburgh as the team each take it in turns to perform their one-man shows in the evenings.

Over the next few weeks, Scott and the team will be asking listeners for ideas and inspiration on how to entertain an audience on their own.

Ben Cooper, Deputy Controller, Radio 1, said: "Radio 1's presence at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 promises to be yet another ambitious creative project for the station, where Scott will entertain his audience on the radio, visually online and through the events at the Fringe."

This year, Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw will also be live from the Edinburgh Fringe and each night, when Scott and the team come off stage, they will go straight onto Nick's show (10pm-12midnight) to tell him how they got on.

Scott Mills The Musical was the surprise hit of last summer's festival, but can the team do it again – on their own?

You have to be kidding me.

I dont want to seem mean, but serious? Last year the musical was great and it had the novelty factor, but I'm not digging whatever this is meant to be this year.

But you don't seem to know what it is? :P

I definitely don't like the dates. It's in august, that's okay, but I'm flying home on 21 august, so can't travel to Edinburgh the day before => have to ask the language school for a day off during the week. They probably won't allow it :(

I like these dates. There is a very big possibility that I'm in Scotland at that time, and quite close to Edinburgh even. It's just perfect for me :)

    • Richie Anderson in for Rylan tomorrow.
    • Mylo and Rosie said at the end of their show today that they would also be on Early Breakfast on Thursday 24th July (even though the schedule still says Dean)
    • James is in for Dean from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th August. Dean is in for Greg from Monday 11th to Friday 15th August. Jaguar is in for Sarah on Friday 15th August.
    • Tara Kumar is in for Alyx on Sunday 13th July.
    • Conor Knight & Lauren Layfield are in for Matt & Mollie on Monday 14th July.  Matt is solo on Tuesday 15th July.  Jerry is in for Mollie between Wednesday 16th & Thursday 24th July.  Maia Beth is covering Future Pop on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd July. On Sunday 27th July the Chillest Show is reduced to an hour, and 20.00-21.00 is a BBC Proms special with JADE. On Thursday 31st July 18.00-20.00 in place of Jack's show it's the Dance Party Warm-Up with Danny Howard (ahead of the Ibiza weekend).
    • Dean McCullough in for Greg w/c 4th August. James Cusack on EB.
    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
