How rude Alan!! Rooney Rooney Rooney!!!

He is great for Man Utd although not good for England lol.

Rubbish match really.

Ima just glad I now know that Capello is actually Welsh ;)

what me rude

i'm not the one who has spent thousands of my own money (less i admit than what Rooney earns in a week) to travel to South Africa to watch that crap, none of the players could even be bothered as for Rooney he hasn't even got the balls or heart to wear the England shirt !

he needs this doing to him

i appologise in advance for the language.

go & fuck yourself Rooney you overpaid useless wanker :bah:

i hope Slovenia beat England in the next game !

I agree with almost everything you've said except he's not crap. England have got to face up to the problem that we've got world class players in Rooney, Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand (when playing), Ashley Cole etc. who play nowhere near as well for their country as they do for their team. It's nothing to do with how much they earn, I'm sure they care about their country as much as the average fan does.

i kind of understand the fans' fustration, they have payed a lot of money to go there and it was an awful display. but it's hardly like the players were running around with glee, they felt bad enough about their performance without a bunch of fat overweight larger swilling bastards shouting 'booo'. how the fuck is kicking them when they are down going to help them for wednesday? i've never been the biggest fan of rooney but i'd rather have him playing for england than not, he is a class player on form.

i'm an england fan, but i don't have much time for the majority of england fans these days. they expect too much, and turn their back on england legends even. they were gloating and celebrating when news broke through that michael owen would miss the rest of the season after the carling cup final, ending what chance he had of making the plane. that's the fucking thanks he got for contributing 40 goals in 89 games.

and the media wouldn't leave sven alone would they? he dosen't look so bad now compared to fabio 'i have a grudge against joe cole' capello. leaving the one guy on the bench who could of made something happen yesterday and against the states last saturday.

if we fail to get out the group, a part of me will think that some of the england fans got what they deserved.

on the grid.

world class ?

none of the players in the England squad are anywhere near as good as, (maybe lampard)

kaka, Xavi, messi, cesar, zambrotta, lahm, ribery, di-maria, sneijder, ronaldo & tevez.

i have said time & again england are not as good as everyone thinks they are, the players are out their to do well for themselves, as individules, they want to see on the back of the sun "rooney won it for england" (etc)

they cannot pass the ball, keep the ball,

they lack skill, pace, heart,

i didn't expect a good performance because they are not good enough, i agree that the media hype it up so much, however you get people like ferdinand saying "we can still win the cup" etc, well we can't.

re DC; you cannot say it's wrong to BOO the team, if kicking them when they are down is wrong when is it right ?

if the players felt bad about their performance, why didn't they do something about it, nobody else can, the manager can't, the fans were singing last night you could even hear them over them vuvezelas, the fans cannot do much more other than run onto the pitch & score themselves for the team.

a manager with balls is whats needed, the team is the same one that sven played with all the players knew they were going to get picked, so they don't even bother to try, the only player that showed any interest last night was barry, the best thing for england football if for them not to get out of the group, as there is fundamental flaws with the team, mainly to do with the players, capello needs to start again from scratch with new younger players & build on it.

they did try and do something about it. but sometimes things just don't click together. and use other players? whats he going to do, pick them from the championship? they are the best we have, i watch football week in week out so take my word on that. it's just a tad more difficult when england fans and the media make it out to be a life or death situation everytime they go onto the feild. it's even worse for rooney. they want him to do it all by himself, casting away other players to praise him. how does that make the rest of the side feel?

on the grid.

That was much much better! The score could have been so much more, was a shame they didn't bury the chances, but a win is a win! Shame for Rooney, he is so desperate for a goal, and hopefully he isn't injured now. The changes paid off, moving away from the 4-4-2, and who questioned the decision to start Defoe? Glen Johnson and James Milner were both outstanding, Milner been my Man of the Match. Can we keep the momentum going?

rolf italy! pure fail.

if we get past germany (probably won't) we'll get a chance to wipe the smile of maradonna's face. it's such a shame he didn't top himself when he was on the coke a few years ago.

i'm still hit and miss with defoe. he took his goal really well, but he should of stuck away the chance that just went past the post. however he should start in the next game because he's the closest player we have to a natural goalscorer, which we've been missing since owen. agree with milner. he was crap for the first half an hour, but once his nerves settled he was amazing. i saw this at newcastle, and nobody would believe me when i said 4 years ago that he would end up playing for england. he is probably the natural successor to david beckham on the right hand side.

on the grid.

.

Hmm, that's a bit in bad taste, he is certinally a character and the game at the moment severlly lacks them.

In the end, goal or not (and it's pretty damn near impossible to deny it IS), the OTHER goals Germany scored meant that it didn't change the end result too much. Now where's that technology like every other sport has to solve disputes like this?

    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
    • Some similar names to Big Weekend.  Sabrina Carpenter, David Guetta, Perrie, Bradley Simpson, Jax Jones, Caity Baser, Benson Boone, Rudimental. David Guetta is a good name.
    • Still Scott for me. I'm not too much into the 70s and 80s radio 2 play but do love the injection of 90s and 00s. Then Radio 2 push for all this country stuff and it not a UK thing, and I frankly don't like it. Scott's show as in features, hit and miss. I like the music police bit, but it feels like someone needs to join him. It's a shame Chappers is so busy with sports, as it feels like it could do with someone like him jumping on to help. Or a new partner. Radio 1, take or leave. Matt and Mollie are OK from what I've heard and share a good connection, but it's the playlist that throws me off. They could bring back Chris Moyles to do that show, but as soon as something like Headie One comes on with that casino keyboard produced crap. It would still be switched off from me.
    • Reading through this thread, I don't feel quite so alone now, in thinking that Scott Mills on R2 is not a good 'fit' (even less so than on R5).  I can't quite explain why this is so - I just know it to be so.
    • Arielle has been on holiday for the last 2 weeks getting married / honeymoon.  It'll be live from this week onwards.
    • CassKidd is in for Sian on Sunday 5th May.
    • The brought to tiers feature was also very good from them. I did wonder which DJ's were going to get picked out of the hat, that could have gone one way or the other and the caller said they were very opinionated lol. Correct decision putting katie in god tier!
    • The extended Dua Lipa track from M&M was very funny. I'm hoping Matt and Mollie and Scott have a good relationship a bit like Greg and Zoe collaborate on-air sometimes.
    • Gary Davies in for Vernon Kay tomorrow (Monday 29th April).
    • When Scott and Chris announced their departure from R1, I remember there was lots of speculation about who would take over the 1pm slot. Matt and Mollie were talked about a lot on here, and at the time I really didn't rate them as a replacement. A few years on, I see that I was totally wrong. They are such a good pairing, and it's the same kind of duo as Scott and Chris, in that they are real life friends, who spend time together in their real lives, which really does come across on air. True friends having a laugh together, and everyone is invited is how it feels to me now. I never thought about it before, but I agree with @coffeeandgin that Mollie is the Scott of the duo - pop obsessed and maybe a litte ditsy, but so funny, and in need of someone to anchor to or bounce off.  It seems that Matt is the kind of Chris of the duo then in that comparison, the one with the ideas, but also needs another person to make the magic happen. I know I'm outside of the R1 demographic, and maybe Dean and Vicky were meant to be younger and fresher, but I'm sure in my younger years I would have preferred to listen to two people who had a genuine connection and could really make each other laugh, as well as have the listeners laugh along. That was the Scott and Chris factor for me, and I think the only pair that come close to that now are Matt and Mollie.
