Change happens. Did you want Moyles to go on forever? If you were radio 1's controller (god help us) what would you have done? Keeping in mind the constant pressure to reduce the average listeners age, etc. I'd be interested to know. Sure, if you like new music Radio 1 is a decent place to hear it. But that doesn't give anyone the right to demand other DJ's.

Firstly, forget about 'the older'. As I said Radio one doesn't care. If I wrote a strongly worded email to the controller of BBC2 asking them to play more dub-step and less 70's music they would laugh when they read it. Secondly, of course some of the younger listeners will be annoyed. Chris Moyles is a firm favourite with a lot of people. However change happens, and Chris has been doing the show for over 8 years and it is time for change. The same reaction happened when Greg got afternoon from Edith, and again when he took over drive-time from Scott. The breakfast show WILL lose listeners, it's certain, but Nick Grimshaw is a popular choice with Radio 1's target audience. Fact. Some people will just have to come to terms with the fact that Radio 1 is no longer for them. It's not designed to keep adjusting to the listener as they grow older.

I don't think you grasp the fact that if you are over 29, Radio 1 controllers (at the present moment due to the BBC Trust's guidelines) couldn't give a toss if you complain. They are not catering for you, they don't care if you don't like the new changes. Its as simple as that.

Dunno what to think of this move, I am a pretty big fan of both Chris and Nick. Nick's (current) style suits night time radio so well it will be interesting to see if he can make the transition to breakfast. Radio 1 are in a pretty rubbish situation as the controller /has/ to make these, for the most part, hugely unpopular changes as quite simply he has to do as he is told (to reduce the age of the average listener). Regarding the petition on chrismoyle.net, what a gigantic waste of time. Bit of a generalisation, but for the post part I'm betting that a lot of the complainers (I could even use an example from the users posting in this thread) will be out-with Radio-1's target age range and therefore have no cause to complain about any changes. The content is simply not supposed to be catering towards you.

I've really warmed to Greg in the last few months - when he first took over I thought he was really bland and dull, but I personally think this move was the right one; in my opinion Scott has been sounding tired. The Tap End or whatever it's called is dreadful and a great deal or the show is so obviously staged and scripted it is, for me, not enjoyable. People complaining that this is an outrage for Mills are a bit deluded if they thought he would stay on drive time for years to come.

Describing some gig, he blurts out "they were pretty f*****g special" at about 19:33. Pretty funny, hadn't heard a DJ swear in a while aswel.

Few people from my school have got tickets, was pretty surprised as I live right on the south east coast of Scotland, a good 75 miles away from Carlisle. Still not heard back myself though!

I reckon Grimmy. Scott has just missed the opportunity, hes a similar age to Moyles and just not as good so there is no reason to put him on the breakfast slot now. Greg is ideal for drive time. He's slightly grown on me, his show is about listenable nowadays but he's not right for breakfast - features are a bit lame and his interactions with guests is a bit cliché or awkward. Grimmy is young, well in touch with radio 1's new target audience age group and passionate about music. He's also extremely quick witted, funny and has the best interaction with his guests i've heard on the station (excluding some of Moyles interviews).

Surely simply deleting the comments would have drawn less attention than making a complete new thread with all but the address of the person, unless attention is what you want Jono?

Nihal is butchering Jo's show. Really, really bad. The spell-star feature Jo normally does is being ruined by his lame attempts to make jokes about every word, talking over the callers when they are spelling, its really bad radio.

And you have the right to make your point, but it amuses me that you can just shut your eyes to the fact that the hatred is mutual in alot of cases. There is as much low-life scum in Scotland as there is in England, so don't think it's one sided.

And of course, decent Scottish people don't sink as low as what you are saying either. So get off your high horse and open your eyes to realise that both sides are as bad as each other.
