Agreed, I was to young to hear him and whilst I heard him for minutes at a time previously his programme didn’t appeal to me but as you said cant deny his impact and respect what had achieved over his radio career@DC

I assume Sara must have broken the news. Have Radio 1 even given it a mention. Tbh I hope they do, it's just plain wrong if they don't if I'm truthful.

yes Jordan mentioned Steve Wright a little earlier in the show.

Fair enough. Wasn't my era for radio 1 as I said but DJ's like Steve wright were superstars back then. Imagine tik tok stars nowdays but amplify it by about 10.

Yeah even if he wasn't your exact preference its just sad anyway

And had a big impact especially with brining zoo format to the UK in the 80s

Yes, which influenced an era of British radio and many successful shows someone that imagine Scott Mills, Chris Moyles, Chris Evans and many others seemed to have been influenced by that style brought something that really worked over decades.

He bought the Zoo format to the UK really. Which later went on to be used by Chris Moyles a lot for his Radio 1 show. He was a gamechanger

Oh no doubt the ones who deny the world exists past 1990 will use it as an excuse to have a go at Scott. Talking of whom, has posted a very warming tribute on social media. I imagine he's upset as are the rest of the Radio 2 DJ's. Steve wasn't just a radio legend, they worked with him day to day.

Much enjoyed Scott on R1 - But sounds all wrong on R2, especially in light of who he replaced.

I miss the features, but the music is better. I don't miss hearing Stormzy and Dave all the time tbh. So kind of balances back out for me.

I’m of the age that I quite like Dave & Stormzy. I find it seems like theres too much of the 90s and 00s played so much pop on the station for me to listen.

Even Dave and Stormzy seem old music to me, DC ?

It's all this drill "I'll stab ya nan if you say hello to me" type stuff I can't put up with. Was creeping into the playlists heavily in Scott's final years on Radio 1. Some of the dance stuff they play is OK nowdays though.

The 90s (95ish upwards) and 00s radio 2 play I don't mind tbh. That's their job nowdays though as Roy Keane would say. Scott played a lot of that and lived through those eras when they were all new, makes sense he does it now on Radio 2 for the audience that's moved over there.

Sadly though. Lewis Capaldi's depressing durge is on both stations, can't get away from that anywhere.

Greg James opening with Steve’s jingle this morning, very fitting.

And a joke about loving the show, haha.

So sad to lose Annie and Steve in such a small amount of time.

What is clear is the admiration that the current generation of Radio 1 DJs had for him as well as his Radio 2 colleagues and other presenters across the industry. Dean just gave a nice little tribute at the start of the show.

The 'Non Stop Oldies' is returning this afternoon during Scott's show (I assume at 3pm like it used to be) in tribute to Steve Wright.

    • I think Gary and the team have obviously gotten over the shock and know they have a job to do and need to move on.  I know what you mean about Sara she is brilliant on TeaTime it will feel weird if she's not on there anymore. But she will also be great on Breakfast
    • As much as I hate him being papped like this, I was relieved to see that he was with Sam and Teddy. Being supported and getting out and about, it's what I had hoped would be happening. I just wish people didn't have jobs where they have  to take pictures of people who are having the toughest time of their lives.
    • I've noticed Sara referencing her R1 Breakfast Show days too this week, when she has been playing songs that are from that time.  I would be really chuffed for her if she got it, if she wants it of course. But it must be a much more difficult decision than it would be given the circumstances.  The early starts and the upheaval that must cause is one thing, but add to that replacing a friend who has been let go in the way that Scott has been.  Selfishly I was hoping it wouldn't be Sara, because I have really grown to love her current show. I did really enjoy her covering for Scott on Breakfast, but I would be back to the dilemma of R2 vs R1 for breakfast.  It's very well deserved though if it is Sara.  I've been really feeling for Gary and the rest of the breakfast guys covering. What an amazing job they are all doing to keep it together and to stay professional and keep a show going in these circumstances. If you didn't know anything was wrong, you wouldn't know anything was wrong from listening to them.
    • I can't look at the pics anymore he looks so broken
    • Hopefully now that the press have got the photo of Scott seen for the first time they will leave him alone.    i have noticed that the majority of comments that’s have been left on this news article do seem to be supporting Scott.
    • Poor Scott, he must know that the pap is there, it looks like even Teddy has spotted him.  They claim he is looking 'downbeat', which is no surprise given everything he has gone through in the last few weeks, but of course how do they expect him to look when he turns a corner to find someone pointing a camera at him? When he is probably just trying to do something normal like walk the dog to help his own wellbeing. Breaks my heart to see press vultures circling especially in circumstances like these.
    • I imagine OJ Borg shall be promoted and replace Cox on drive.
    • The Sun are now reporting Sara Cox shall be the next host of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show and will be announced as Mills replacement in the Summer. She describes her job at Radio 2 as her dream job. Those at Radio 2 believe she is the best person for the job. https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/38829761/sara-cox-radio-2-breakfast-show-job-scott-mills/
    • Now changed to:   5-7am Radio 1 Anthems 7-8am TBA Rest as mentioned..
    • Feels like they only do it on shows which have a 'with...' in the description
    • Not quite, they’re just updating the anthems shows. That and EB are the only thing which seem to be updated these days.
    • They're finally updating the schedules soon enough!
    • Just seen video of Scott walking his dog, what an absolute invasion of his privacy this story is weeks old, and the tabliods are hanging about his house like preying mantises, waiting for a picture of what? a couple walking a dog. He looks deshevelled and unshaved, Sam looks low as well but Scott looks broken. The man is going through merry hell and some pap is there pointing cameras in his face. He looks unshaved, thinner than ever and miserable. Leave him alone! It's not enough he has had his dream job ripped from under his feet quicker than he could blink his life is destroyed, he probably doesn't know who to trust in his circle and may be involved with legal action against the BBC and these paps are still making stories out of it. They are the ones responsible for this I maintain that the Mirror had the story, threatened to break it, the BBC asked for a few days to investigate and then it all blew up. Just shows how nasty these tabloids are and I hope he takes them to the cleaners like Elton John and others are.
    • 18th April No Rap Show, replaced by Radio 1 Big Weekend highlights. 1st May Dean in for Greg on Breakfast
    • I think they will let Gary hold the fort fot the summer then start again from September. Yes total curve ball for Helen Thomas having to find a new host a year in
