I agree - i liked dick and dom when i listened. I thought they actually worked well on the radio and t hey seemed like they put alot into it as well. I think that the lie-in was actually a good slot for them but i think maybe in another slot they could have done better - but as they said they didnt want to commit to more shows/days.

Those who said the lie-in wasnt good for them - where do you think they are suited for? Chart Show? Switch? Early Breakfast or Weekend Breakfast?

What a mess

I really support women's rights to have decent maternity benefits...but from a listeners point of view it has created a real muddle of presenters!

I missed who was meant to be covering Edith's afternoon slot for the next few months...?

I think she'll be really good on a sunday morning... but what happened to the all singing all dancing modern mum who was going to carry on with her normal life after having a baby....and now is coming back to work part time..... I wonder if she will go back to working full time... or have a few years break working part-time?

You're right, she should either pop the sprog out in the morning and come back for her show in the afternoon or hand her job other to someone who doesn't have one of those pesky uteri. ;)

I actually think that R1 have done a good job of covering her slot, and after all, if she comes back too soon, and she's at the stage of worrying constantly about the baby, it'll be the show that suffers.

but what happened to the all singing all dancing modern mum who was going to carry on with her normal life after having a baby.

Believe me, my Mum did that, it's not good, unless you're superhuman.

With regards to Dick and Dom, I'm not particularly sorry to see them go. I liked the lie-in, but other than that, I found the sense of humour on the show to be quite childish, as if they hadn't moved on from kid's TV. I hated the "I love Dick" thing too, it was an okay concept but it jumped the shark a long time ago, I got very fed up of all the callers who thought they were oh-so-original by saying they loved Dick, it was just cringeworthy.

I'm pretty sure that was just EF4L that was going around saying that. She's starting to become the female Iain Smith ;)

I don't think this is the end of the schedule changes. The new year is likely to bring some more.

    • https://youtu.be/A_Cycjg5_9A?si=NiLTFeiTNWBExFoR   As barmy as Sam Ryder has now gone, as shown in this video. I'd still rather it than that bland Olly Alexander record.
    • I like Scott, and I listen to Rylan's show every week... they do sound great together on Eurovision etc but.. as for a daily show together, I don't think it would work. Rylan would probably have to reign it in a bit which would lose his appeal, otherwise it may become too chaotic, in my opinion. That Saturday slot is perfect for Rylan, his rapport with Sally Traffic and Lottie is great. I suppose it comes down to cost as well and if he would want a daily show?   Radio 2 are clearly happy with Scott's show, and considering he's just won Best Entertainment Show at the ARIA's, I can't see them changing much.
    • A win for Scott which is fantastic after the last few years he's been through!
    • Am I outnumbered for not wanting to work in radio? It feels like there's a lot of geeks that want a job in the industry here.
    • Thought Sam and Danni were robbed of an award.
    • OJ Borg is in for Trevor Nelson on the Rhythm Nation tonight (with Phill Williams on overnight). He's also in for Michael Ball for the next two Sundays (12th and 19th May). Ros Atkins (BBC's Analysis editior) is in for Jeremy Vine on Thursday. Another new name to Radio 2 is Oliver Hides from BBC Radio Wales. He sat in for Owain Wynn Evans yesterday and he's in again this Thursday (9th May) and Bank Holiday Monday (27th) Spoony in for Scott Mills from Tuesday 28th till Friday 31st May.
    • Thought they would make it easier to get to this event. There's been no communication from the council or organisers about travel, even though there's talk of train strikes. Smaller councils have done a better job.
    • They do sound good together, but I'm not sure Rylan will want the extra commitments.
    • I have accepted Chris is unlikely to join Scott's show, and that Chappers has moved on, but I still think he could do with a co-host. The most logical solution, I think, is Rylan. He appears more often on his show than not, and they are great together. Radio 2 could lose Rylan's Saturday show and extend his reach by appearing during the week. I think they'd be great!
    • Tattoo took a while to grow on me. I couldn't see the fuss until weeks after. We have a split household here where the war on Gaza is overshadowing an enjoyment. I'm hoping for a protest of some sort.
    • I've heard that the staging is very impressive.  That and him being "known" might prevent an embarrassing result.  I'm a terrible judge of Eurovision though as Tattoo is still so very meh to me.
    • Feels like after the success of Sam Ryder we are going back to our old ways. Olly Alexander's song is pretty weak. Anyone fancy our chances this year?
    • The more time goes on the more you think if they'd actually put some thought into it it should've been Vick & Katie from the start. A proven pairing and Katie ended up on the show anyway - whereas Katie's even mentioned she was only asked to join after the Jamie announcement And even by Going Home standards on time off, it's quite funny that a few months in we still haven't had a full week of the supposed line-up - and that's with a 4-day week.
