we wouldn't of got anywhere if we got there becuase we wern't good enough.

to be honest if we want to go to the world cup (which is more important) things needed a shake up. in this form we have no chance. this is what we got for having a manager that learned his trade with scotland. there is capello interest i heard.

on the grid.

And under arguably the best manager in club football ever. I'll treat that with the contempt it deserves :P

I'm sure Capello doesn't speak a word of English so that may be a problem. According to Sky Sports News, Harry Redknapp hasn't ruled himself out.

Also, surely there has to be some sort of Home Nations tournament now?

i think a massive part of the problem with the england team as well is the media. especially the tabloids. and an example is this:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7106969.stm

Bilic, a former West Ham player, went on: "I read in your papers that no Croatian would start in the England team - that's ridiculous, wake up.

"There is no non-Englishman who loves your guys more than I do but there are good players in small countries as well.

so that means papers like the sun are making a bad name for all us english. they dont take into account the normal persons opinion. that we couldn't take them lightly becuase of how good they are, but we have some good players and could beat them if we tried. but b*stards like the sun try to make out that we think we can beat anyone when we think quite the opposite infact, especially right now.

on the grid.

Its a shame because it would be interesting to see which Manchester United player would be the scapegoat for England getting knocked out in the quarter/semi-finals.

I take it Martin O'Neill is the top choice to replace McLaren?

Wasnt a United played on the pitch last night. We were truly awful, no excuses!!

Where would we be if we did'ht have rules....?

France, Thats Right.

we had our two best centre forwards out and our two best centre backs. and our two best full backs (richards probably will take over neville soon though). but if they would of all been fit we still would of lost. there is no doubt as individuals they are top players, but they all seem to think the same.

what cost them the first two goals cost them croatias third, they tried to play for a draw against a team that is 10 times better than england as soon as they got on level terms. after they had crouch's very lucky goal and a penalty that never should of been, they sat back and let them pass the ball around and you could tell they were going to find a way through.

on the grid.

I think bringing back the home internationals back is a good idea but i dont like the dates the games will be played, february, march and may.

From my point of view that will increase fixture congestion at a time when rangers will still be in europe [feb, probs march and hopefuly may lol] and it will be coming to the end of the scottish season with many of the rangers players playing for scotland it could effect the outcome of competitions in scotland and england if they get involved.

Can you really see Chelsea being ok with letting lampard, cole and terry play in pointless international matches within days of crucial champions league and premiership matches?

well if there is a massive terrorist attack in london later that will round of the scots' greatest day in fashion. - Thats a shocking thing to say.

i think the English fa should try and sign up big Alex MacLeish before the sfa offer him a new deal. if he can do what he has done with the Scottish team just think what he could do with England's "super stars"

yeah but you have to remember, it was really Walter Smith and Ally McCoist that put in the groundwork, Alex McLeish inherited the team when they their confidence was on a high.

As for the Celtic cup contest I reakon it sounds a good idea, not overly fussed if England take part or not, it means Scotland has more chance of winning something :D

mclaren for scotland, who's laughing now? paul jewel is a fool, why not take wigan back who had a better chance of stopping up?

no chance, Gordon Smith said it is likely to be a Scotsman, looks like McAllister is in the frame, as is Billy Davies who was recently sacked by Derby, definately dont fancy having Graeme Souness in charge of the national team, dont think he has the ability to take Scotland a step further or even keep them at the stage they are at.

    • Since Easter at the beginning of April, Vick, Katie and Jamie have been on together just 4 times. Which is crazy for a brand new, high profile Radio 1 show. Imagine Jordan being off that regularly on Capital because of ‘other commitments’ - would never happen.  Jamie has only presented 6 times in the past month. Katie has presented every single show. Given how she got the job at the last minute I think very likely she would have had other commitments, which she will have cancelled/rearranged, cos being Radio 1 drive time host is a massive gig.   Vick, Katie and Jamie - 4 times; Vick and Katie - 10 times; Katie and Jamie - 2 times; Katie and Lauren - 2 times.
    • I see Katie (and Mairead) were out with Jordan tonight.  I don’t listen to the show any longer, I am shocked they are allowed to mention Jordan.
    • At least I do not ask stupid questions…😂
    • I suggest you follow the other DJs too if so, you will learn the hardest working will go further 🤣
    • A simple check on his instagram would answer all your questions , he’s on tour with his wife and the team behind his podcast. I suggest anyone to follow the radio presenters, you will learn a lot about their other jobs and work commitments.
    • Where is Jamie? It felt like he was settling in when Vick wasn’t on but he’s not been on since last Tuesday now. They’ve not even mentioned him, in fact they’ve mentioned Jordan more than they’ve mentioned him in the last two days.
    • Scott's show is on the road next week, live from Malmö in Sweden on Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Eurovision. As he's doing the semi final coverage on the TV on Tuesday and Thursday alongside Rylan, Gary Davies sits in for him on those days.
    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
