I’ve got a friend who knows of Chris as she grew up in North West London as well and apparently Chris and his girlfriend have a daughter (toddler)! I think of myself of a frequent listener but don’t remember it ever being discussed or mentioned?! I know him and his girlfriend aren’t married and at the time wouldn’t of been together for that long / quite young so maybe that’s why he chose to not disclose it? He’d make such a fun dad!

I’m not sure if this is a rule but the Radio 1 DJs never seem to mention their children. Matt also has a 1(?) year old daughter and don’t think he’s ever mentioned it.

Yeah, this forum worked out that Chris and his gf had had a baby when it happened. What can I say, we're excellent stalkers. But I suppose it was never mentioned on air both for her privacy and also because they want to preserve Chris' image as a bit of a lad who's still having fun and finding his way in the world. Being settled with a kid doesn't really fit with that. But also it makes you seem older, and makes you less relatable to the target audience, most of whom won't have kids. Plus people talking about their kids is really boring. I'm kinda glad it's not mentioned on air, for all of the reasons above.

Matt's kid has been acknowledged once or twice - he had to miss a live episode of the Xtra Factor for her birth and they explained it live on air, and then he put a statement on his Twitter - he implied that he wasn't going to announce it publicly but they did it for him on the Xtra Factor so he felt obligated to say something. And I think then one of his guests on the radio show referenced it shortly after and he seemed a bit uncomfortable and moved on the conversation.

Back in the day I think Coxy, Jo Whiley and Edith might have talked about their kids a bit more, but it's probably harder to keep them a secret when they disappear from the airwaves for several months!

Oh, and did I mention - people talking about their kids is BORING.

Also it's a source of great sadness that I'm from North West London and I don't know Chris. All of the places referenced in Tap End are relatively near to me. Maybe it's because he's more Metropolitan Line and I'm Jubilee.

Oh, Chris got married today by the way. A couple of wedding Instagram stories. We probably should've sent a card. Oh well. There's always next wedding.

Also I'm fully caught up with last week's show and Thursday's show was so lovely. A touching celebration of Chris, it was great, especially Scott's tribute at the end. If you missed it, it's worth a listen back because they played out a few classic clips of his best moments - including Beccy!

    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
