I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this already. Loving the older music today, and the use of the old chart imaging (if I heard correctly) is a lovely touch.

I did not know it was a full day if I'm honest, Just listening to Dev now, That's JK and Joel's original chart package he started off with!

Now if they'd used the 2006/7/8/9/11 news ins as well that would have been perfect (although nothing really to do with the chart, just me being a geek).

Aha I'm totally with you there! Would have added that final touch! I'm just wondering who's idea it was to use the old chart packages for the different years? But it goes to show they keep all the old jingles etc somewhere.

Probably download them from this site haha! But seriously, you'd keep them too if they cost that much!

It screams Aled to me! They played the old Big Weekend beds when they did that day couple of months ago.

Wonder if they'll play out a montage of all the old chart hosts or something similar before the end of the show. That would also be a nice touch to hear a bit of "Hi, this is Wes" again, amongst others.

I very much enjoyed the day I must admit. Definitely a great touch hearing all the old chart imaging. If you look at timelines, most imaging lasted 2-3 years, with the last major change to the current Music4 package in 2012. Leaves me wondering if we might get something new with Greg on Friday (tweeted him to ask - hope to get a reply!) Will be tuned in with perked up ears!

Listening to all the different packages again and the 2010-2011 package is still on top for me! The current one (which got refreshed in 2013 for Jameela) is grating on me a bit now, and they hardly used any of the alt versions of the beds either!

I too am hoping that Greg gets a new package, It is a completely new show in a way after all, even if he used the 2010 package I'd be happy haha!

Do we know what will become of the Chart Update? The R1 website says "there are no upcoming broadcasts of this programme", so does that mean it's been binned off for good? I remember they launched it to much fanfare back in 2010, but now it seems it's being quietly dropped. It could potentially work on a Tuesday afternoon, no?

Not that it's a great loss, it just means we get an extra half-hour of Mills content each week! Could we be seeing the first ever post-3:30 Bamboleo?

I don't know if anyone cares, but the chart of the year so far today had the old imaging package. Not sure if it was possibly pre-recorded.

I didn't hear many (if any) timestamps. To be honest, a 6-day week for Scott isn't really fair on him.

    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
