If Moyles did take over the XFM breakfast show I wonder if it could prompt Radio 1 to replace Grimmy with Greg James ? Grimmy might find it hard to compete with Moyles

I'm not against Grimmy - I don't hate him. I just don't love him either. I just don't love his show in the same way I loved The Chris Moyles Show, or Scott Mills, or Greg James - I'm fairly indifferent to it. It's a distinctly average radio show. Not hilarious but not so dire I can't bear to listen, not something I'd go out of my way to listen to but not something I'd actively avoid. So as to whether I'd care if he was fired - meh. It's unlikely anyway. I do think Greg could do a much better job of the breakfast show, and given the choice between Grimmy and Chris Moyles, I'd pick Chris Moyles, but I'm not a Grimmy hater.

This Moyles thing seems strange too. After saying he's done with radio for the time being, it seems unlikely but there's no smoke without fire, and neither camp have denied it. I'd quite like it to happen in theory, but I can't see Chris going back to commercial radio, the very same he made fun of for years. I can't imagine him liking to play lots of music and adverts (which I bet he'd take the pee out of - commercial radio bosses would hate that), and stick to the rigid commercial radio format. Then again, maybe he's been brought in to shake it up on purpose and be the saviour of commercial radio. But would he really take that job? From the national Radio 1 breakfast show with seven million listeners to the breakfast show of a local London station that has less than one million? He could walk straight into Radio 2 if he wanted to. Then there'd be the worry of it always being in the shadow of his Radio 1 show - always trying to recreate it but never being as good.

I'd like to see that happen in theory, but I don't know if it actually would, and whether it would actually be any good.

As much as I love Chris, I don't think he is anywhere near ready for Radio 2. Scott is much more ready for Radio 2.

I think Chris would suit the 6music Breakfast Show although I don't think the station is needing to change its show because it is still very popular.

What about Chris on Magic? Are they not in need of a breakfast presenter after you know who..

Scott is much more ready for Radio 2.

Are you kidding? Scott sounds about 24 and I think he's actually got younger during his time on Radio 1 - his style would not work at all over there. Meanwhile, Chris has sounded 40 since he was about 28 (which I didn't mind too much), always referencing things from the 80s and stuff, and his show did sound rather Radio 2 by the end. Chris would fit in much more.

I doubt Chris will be back at the BBC. I suppose he'd "suit" XFM, although what with him denying anything to do with radio whatsoever in his tedious vlogs (I won't link you to his YouTube), I doubt this altogether.

This may trigger me into getting a dab radio in the car, Moyles has tried and failed really at other things since leaving Radio 1. Radio is his true calling I reckon, it's what he's best at and I hope he's realised that now.

on the grid.

    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
