I like the feelgood vibe it has, but could be too feelgood for the news?. I'll still be getting up at 06:30 though to hear how the bed works over the news!

Listen Watch Share is gone! I like it at the moment, but I think it'll grow on me even more as weeks go on.

I built myself up for something that it really wasn't. The intro is too slow for a service such as Newsbeat in my opinion, and Radio 1 doesn't really do weather apart from in the breakfast bulletins. Listen, Watch Share is indeed dead, and what has replaced it is nothing but a generic-sounding piece of crap. It doesn't do Newsbeat justice.

Had a few listens, and I actually quite like them. They seem to have a good balance between serious-sounding yet keeping within the overall sound of Radio 1/1Xtra. There's a decent build-up which I feel the last package lacked.

The sonic logo isn't hugely original - it's basically just the same note twice. But times have changed since the 1tro days and Radio 1 doesn't have a four-note logo anymore so I suppose the news should be no different.

I'll reserve my full judgement until I hear it on-air tomorrow but so far I'm impressed.

Ooh this is so difficult! I don't know whether to listen to it now or wait to hear it on air tomorrow! AGHHHHHH! Its so tempting, just one click away...

Go on..... click it! There's some cool graphics too you know....

It's sounding a little more childish and newsround in my opinion. I'm a sort-of fan of the main bed, but... that could just be a generic bed from their library, because that's how it sounds.

Newsround is exactly what I thought when I first heard it too.

Wow Tyler, you're on the ball. So in the end, I waited until this morning to hear it and...

I quite like it. It's not the return to the 2000-2006 style and quality packages I was hoping for, but I'm glad they've kept the in. In terms of the actual jingles, I liked them. Well paced, etc. Better than the 2011 package IMO.

A little bit gutted that the "Listen Watch Share" strap line has gone though.

I never liked that much. Much preferred "digital, FM, online", it made so much more sense and just sounded better.

The tagline on this new one works. I like it. Also like the way it pulses with the beat.

Totally agree with you there! Was a much better strapline. I think this new package will really grow on me!

as far as i know there was new Entertainment beds commissioned with this package as well.

After hearing it with the content over the top, I have now decided that I dislike it. The bed into news sounds too slow and the sport bed (from how I heard it, anyway) sounded pretty indistinguishable. Jonathan, the newsreader at the time of listening (10:30 bulletin), was talking about Syria and it was too fast. It took away from the actual news. And the "BBC...Radio....1" is too slow, and there's no Newsbeat ident at the start either.

All in all, meh.

Small observation - for the first time in many years the same ending (stab?) is now used on breakfast and daytime updates (excluding the ramp version at the start of the breakfast show)

This isn't getting much better :/

I noticed this too! I never really understood why they used different outs in the first place at different times of day.

Also, did anybody else think Jonathan Blake (I think that was who was reading the news this morning, I can't remember) had the beds a bit low this morning? Would have preferred them to be more obvious, but apart from that, I like them.

Oh, also, Greg obviously mentioned them today- he didn't seem too keen. He was lamenting the loss of being able to sing "that, was, the news" at the end of the bulletin.

He sounded much more excited within the podcast. Well, what a flop.

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
