I got a little confused with which show comes from which studio today because in a recent video introducing iPlayer viewers to Radio 1 Greg was in his usual studio 82D, but mentioned that Fearne's show also comes from there. I know that Scott comes from 82E on his normal 1-4pm show (but seems to be creeping into 82A when doing innuendo bingo), but that confuses me a little... as I understand it, Grimmy comes from 82A (or Scott when he's covering breakfast), so does that leave 1xtra breakfast in a side studio?

Just for the sake of having more nerd points I'd also be interested to know which studio Zane's show comes from if anyone knows, I think he's usually in 82C but I'm not sure, my second guess would be 82F.

Also feel free to name any other shows that you know the location of!

EDIT (to make it easier on the eyes):

Grimmy: 82A

Fearne: 82D

Scott: 82A (if not, 82E)

Greg: 82D

Zane: 82c or 82F?

Both Greg and Fearne use the same studio. I know Scott used to do his show from 82E but I'm fairly sure that now he does it from 82A so that the weekday daytime shows alternate either side of the Live Lounge.

You're probably right that he's in 82A now, because it seems that Innuendo Bingo has been recorded there since April, so since they managed to do it fine in the old side studio & still cover everything up in 82A that's probably the case. The only problem I have with that is wondering what happens if there's a live lounge for 1xtra in mid-mornings. I know that 82A would technically be free, but Scott has said previously he usually gets in to the studio 2 hours before (although there's less prank calls and stuff that HAS to be prepared in the studio these days so it may only be 1 hour)

Any idea on other shows not listed?

I'd guess that they'd probably end up doing their prep for the show elsewhere when there's a Live Lounge as 82A is where the sound is mixed before it goes out on air so there'd be engineers etc in there and wouldn't want to be disturbed.

I'm pretty sure that Matt Edmondson's show comes from 82E but I've not got a clue about others!

I didn't know about where the sound was mixed, I wondered what the extra desk was for, thanks! I suppose they could always use a side studio, there are 4 of them after all so there must be 1 free...

I think you're right about Matt, however it surprises me that he comes from a side studio, because I imagine that means that one of the larger studios is used by weekend breakfast, which is hardly prime time... I'd imagine that shows like Dance Anthems & The Official Chart come from a larger studio though because they both require more preparation and production than the rest of the daytime weekend shows. Pictures with guests would help to figure out who comes from where, but the weekend shows don't seem to have guests in the studio that often (apart from Matt, who seems to get very good bookings considering the times that he's on air).

I wonder where Radio 1 will come from if New Broadcasting House has a power cut.

I imagine that they must have backup generators, there's no way that they'd not have a failsafe because so much of the BBC's output comes from there.

Watching the Live Lounge today, I think it goes:

Nick Grimshaw - 82D

Fearne Cotton - 82A

Scott Mills - 82D (Used to be 82E)

Greg James - 82A (Records the podcast in 82E)

Zane Lowe - 82E

    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
