Moyles leaving radio 1 or just breakfast?

Hmm I'm not sure, I know whatever slot he goes to will be a step down for him, but I don't see him walking completely. If he gets slots that mean a cut in hours, that helps with his prospects of more TV work while still doing something in Radio.

I think hes leaving for a few months or so. Then he'll most likely be back. I mean, not doing the breakfast show any more will be a blow no matter what. It'll hurt for a while. so He needs some time to go away and do other things for a bit. but leaving radio one for good? I just can't see it.

I suspect he'll do weekends and start up some shows on Radio 2 or Radio 6Music (which would be baffling giving their remit but not impossible now it's more of a Radio 2 extra).

I'd love him to do something different for Radio 1.

Like a DAB only show (as they've done once or twice in the past) or a show for 1Xtra where it's more about doing something different for the station than just black or hip hop music. He could really sell a new project like that.

Apparently Christian O Connel (Absolute Radio's breakfast presenter) has said that Dave will be joining Absolute.

There were also some speculation that Moyles might join 5live however I cannot see that. Mainly due to the fact that I heard an interview with the 5live controller who having to defend Richard Bacon's show to lots of angry listeners. I can't see him hiring Chris someone in a similar vein to Bacon

Why were the listeners so angry? I am not familiar with Bacon's show.

Not enough news content, too laddish were the main accusations. I enjoy his show personally though.

Whilst I'm not saying Moyles couldn't do a show on 5live I think there listeners would cause a fuss, he hasn't come from a news background and he can be seen as laddish if you get your information from the Mail!

If you really want to get a taste of the hatred towards Bacon try the epic thread on Digital Spy entitled Richard Bacon How the hell did he get the job

Do NOT understand those complaints about Bacon at all, lately because of various sports, he's barely even done his normal show in months anyway. He is more freeform though, has features like the Moan In and some great guests (even bad ones he scrapes a half-decent interview out of), and sometimes that means things like the News or Travel are late, but that doesn't entirely mean it's bad. People who say it's 'too laddish' are probably, as commented above, Mail readers.

    • I guess we'll have to wait and see when the new schedule kicks in, although I could see Scott staying where he is.  Assuming that's the case and there are no other moves, there would be several available studios for Matt & Mollie - 82C or 82E of the 'old' studios, and 82M or 82N of the new ones.
    • The BBC commissioning brief mentions it is a 'mid morning show' for Radio 1 Dance https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radio/documents/comm_brief_r1_dance_morning_show.pdf
    • Nothing to apologise about, I was just intrigued on how DS and UM react
    • I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!
    • That’s two names who probably won’t be doing that slot permanently then.
    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
    • Echo what most have said here. Connor has great energy which is important for that sort of slot and the shame for him is that the dance line-up is so strong that there's no obvious 'in' for him to get a regular slot -Danny, Sarah, Pete Tong, Arielle, Charlie Hedges, Jerry and Charlie Tee are all great in their slots. A live show on Radio 1 Dance really feels the obvious way to get a proper foot in the door at Radio 1. Although to be fair to the DS critic I think it was just the one poster and can very much hear Connor in my head saying 'in for the legend that is Charlie Hedges'.
    • James Cusack is in for Jack on Friday 14th June, doing the chart while Jack is at Download.
