TheSaviourisHere reacted to GregJames_fan in Radio 1's Summer Games
So, timeline so far:
No one has came to the studio, except Greg, and he has been handed a printer paper saying "Keep the tunes coming!"

TheSaviourisHere reacted to Old Codger Fan in Radio 2 Schedule Changes
Her absence is her main contribution towards the improvement of the show.

James Cusack is in for Nat this Sun, not Sam and Danni as previously stated

TheSaviourisHere reacted to BBCAaron in Radio 1 Breakfast Show to start at 7.30am over summer
I’d consider trying Nat O’Leary in the early morning slot in a temporary before a future move.
Assuming when referencing Future Artists may mean sounds I’d possibly consider in the long term commissioning some more ambitious programmes and projects but in the meantime would have.
Radio 1 Future Sounds as 18:00-21:00 extending it to blend mix of the future sounds and his future artists programmes in a mix and trying to focus it on the music that mostly came out of the last month and at stretch last 3 months. Maybe bring back the Radio 1 Review show in it to be go in-depth looking at other albums and EPs out that week. Focus on providing some extended interviews and feature live sessions and mixes.
Have Arrielle Free do 21:00-23:00 with still focus on playing new music and her choices and curations of her favourite new music and something that could have a dance and electronic influence and having mix of regular co-hosts from the world of comedians to media personalities that fit the stations audience like tv people and such and having mix of entertainment bits.
I’d scrap the power down playlist but have at 23:00-00:00 have
Mon - Lifehacks Late
Tue - Radio 1 Interviews
Wed - Artist In Residence
Thur - Radio 1 Residency
00:00-02:00/02:00-04:00 mix of the stations other specialist music programming. Including airing programmes from Casskid, Sir Spyro from 1Xtra in that slot.

Clara like the rest of the DJ’s are free lance so they get paid a contract to do a number of shows. If she doesn’t do them she doesn’t get paid.

I would think 7.30-8 is quite popular, but it definetly isn't like 8-8.30
My predictions for highest listening figures:
EB: 6-6.30am
B: 8-8.30am
RM&C: 12-12.30pm
D&V: 3-3.30pm
V&J: 5-5.30pm
WEEKEND:
WB: 9-9.30am
KT: 11.30am-12pm
M&M: 2-2.30pm
DA: 4-4.30pm

Some good suggestions in the summer schedule. Does anyone know listening figures until 7.30? For adult stations it’s considered prime time, but maybe R1’s target audience wakes up later?
Let’s leave it like this forever:
5-7 Somone new (James Cusack?)
7-10.30 Greg
10.30-12.45 RMC
13-15.30 Dean & Vicky
15.30-17.45 Vick & Jordan
18-20 Jack
20-22 Arielle

I do think it will be something that the stations controllers be testing out and seeing if it could work. But always thought having some of the weekend presenters or some of the stations bench presenters to cover shows in the summer would be good. I do think that even though if there isn’t major changes come September but having a break or seasonal programming could lead to fresh ideas and re-energised producers and presenters if the usual formats and presenters are taking a short rest. Would hope next summer they get more creative especially in the evening programmes

Not sure a small lay in would help more than 2 weeks off

I do hope that Jack Saunders would work well full time in that slot and would like to see the more hype and some energy to that time slot I’d think he would be able to lean in to lesser mainstream and have a varied playlist. But by then I’d like to see a bit of a re-think and re-imagined Future Sounds brand would like to have included Future Global, Future Groove, Future Beats, to Bars and would like to see.
One thing in any change to what the BBC does with its programming is to have a clear brand station name for interest as said before BBC Sports Sounds, BBC News Sounds, BBC Future Sounds, Forever Sounds…
But back to reality and not my niche fantasy that is marmite if Jack Saunders got Future Sounds would like to see this era have any session as labelled as a Live Lounge so could be recorded from in the BBC building and can do in the room interviews and try to focus on BBC Radio 1 Interviews offering and maybe doing a renamed spin of the midnight drop with free tracks that dropped that day or first plays from the show. I would like to see some minor tweaks to the format and maybe some lessons to how New Music Fix Daily is going and bring his confident and entertaining personality,

TheSaviourisHere got a reaction from BBCAaron in Do R1 care about the chart show anymore?
Yep could not agree more it is over 20 years now since i started listening to Radio 1 because of my obsession with the Chart. I still really enjoy it. But when you think you have got rid of the Harry Styles track and it comes right back into the top 10.

TheSaviourisHere reacted to BBCAaron in Do R1 care about the chart show anymore?
I think it is defiantly has become integral to the brand and what you associate of radio 1 to document the weekly music trends and popular music and tracks. But with tracks sticking in weeks and months in the charts with little change have it being new number one every other week and bit easy and more competitive environment to getting into the top of the chart these days would make it interesting.
If there was bit more difference and change it would be more of a listen but think its not Radio 1 to blame but the chart doesn’t feel surprising or exciting.

TheSaviourisHere reacted to Jono in Will there be a Big Weekend 2024?
I'd like to see some new towns and cities put on the map. Dundee hosted a One Big Weekend previously, for instance.

TheSaviourisHere reacted to Old Codger Fan in Vernon Kay gets Mid Mornings on Radio 2
Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge what a superb job Vernon Kay has made of the 'new' slot - Far exceeded my expectations. Also very wisely 'feature'-heavy - I don't think there's any other light-entertainment show elsewhere on the radio which can hold a candle to this ...

TheSaviourisHere reacted to Jono in Vernon Kay gets Mid Mornings on Radio 2
Anecdotally I've seen some Ken Bruce listeners returning, saying he's a safe pair of hands and doesn't have the adverts like GHR (unless you pay). Given no mass exodus when Steve Wright left, and some green shoots under Vernon Kay, hopefully R2 can stabIlise things.
The station also sounds great with the new jingles.

Balancing the workload? He seemed very giddy yesterday anyway! It's Dermot and Alison this week so doesn't seem to be any sign of that yet.

TheSaviourisHere reacted to NathanS in Radio 2 Schedule Changes
Rylan said on his show this afternoon that he's off for a "fair few weeks", he didn't say exactly how many weeks he's off for. There's no mention on the schedule yet who's sitting in for him.
