A simple search by Google proves that it's a spam message, and the fact their phone had suddenly died made it suspicious. It seems they have lots of phone numbers to keep it going too. Hmmph.

Ive not had any of those messages but i do get messages from betfair and it comes up with 'Betfair' even though its not in my phonebook... how does it know?

I'm really really careful about what I do with my mobile number. I never put it down on forms if it's for marketing purposes, only if it's someone who will genuinely need to contact me. I haven't had any text spam in a couple of years, although O2 do send me texts and photo messages sometimes.

Only been given it once and that was by a girl who gave it to me by mistake as she had it saved under my number. She was a wee a bit embarrassed to say to least.

I once tried to give it to a lad who sadly also knew of it. When he read it back to me to make sure it was right he said it to the tune. :oops:

It was in front of all his mates, so he was utterly mortified.

I never get spam texts although I do get a lot of texts from O2. I dont put my number down on forms unless they have a reason to need to phone me. As Seb said if I have to put a number down and dont want them having mine I use the flirt divert number.
