if R1 didn't think she was the right person for the job they wouldn't have offered it to her, just because you don't like her as a person doesn't mean she is not good at the job she is doing.

I did, I heard the first few and she lacked charisma, and it sounded like student radio.

i also gave her a chance. not that she is a bad person or anything but it riles me that there is better talent out there, that work so hard. and she is only there becuase of who she (or her dad) is.

but she would have known that its a big job to take on & just needs to adjust to it, & i suppose they got Kelly is because she has had more than her fair share of problems & will not hold back on her views & she does come across as a person that you could turn for help to, she does seem honest & sincere

So she's had problems, doesn't make her worthy of a DJ. My friend has a lot of amusing conversations down the pub. Doesn't mean he'll be the new Scott Mills though does it?

i suppose you would of had to have listened to radio 1 for a fair few years to understand the difference between talent in presenters.

just because you don't like her as a person doesn't mean she is not good at the job she is doing.

The problem is, she isn't good at the job she does.

Even i could do a better job... without meaning to sound big headed or owt.

she isn't there to play music, (anyone can do that) she is there as a presenter & someone that can relate to the younger members of the audience & someone that isn't patronizing & won't talk down to people & is basically like a big sister that will listen.

Maybe I don't want a big sister, maybe I want someone who does things professionally and someone who sounds experienced. Letitia and Emma B did this, with Dr Mark. I trust them a lot more. Hey even Scott, Colin, Nihal and Annie do - maybe because you hear them everyday and know what they're like.

I don't know Kelly. I've seen her try to release music following on from her dad, I've seen her on her reality show, and I've read stories about her.

But if you're saying she's been through it all, should Radio 1 start employing people like Kerry Katona too, just because we've read about her harrowing stories?

The clips of Scott talking to Kelly as she continued to call him "Chris" doesn't really help...

I wouldnt choose to listen to kelly, because she seems such a celebrity hanger on.... although she has apparently been through a lot of things, Im not sure how able she is to relate to the average young person..

How on earth can she be qualified to give out advice?

shes a poor little rich girl, with a mummy and daddy that can give her everthing she needs... what qualifications does she have to present this show.

i woud like to say im glad Kelly is better & will be back on the show & i think she is doing a good job at presenting a difficult & demanding show & so what if she seems a bit uneasy or out of her depth, she is honest & not afraid to say what she thinks, if only there were more people willing to not conform to the PC culture.

i really don't like all these negertive vibes against the female dj's on R-1, its bad enough on the R-1 boards & chat room's.

Everyone's allowed an opinion, we're Radio 1 listeners, we should be allowed to say what works and doesn't. I don't see a lot of dislike for Annie Mac, Jo Whiley or Coxy. Others may get the brunt of it all, but that's just how it goes.

i agree with you on Annie Mac (that she doesn't get the negative comments), but you don't see the male dj's getting abuse.

i know & understand that everyone is entitled to there opinions & have no problem with that, but why cannot people give them a break or not post nasty comments, some of the comments about Edith & Kelly in the live chat rooms are discracefull, Edith used to post in the R-1 message board which was what they were all about (interactivity etc) but sadly the nasty & highly offencive post's drove her away.
