Just reading this about speed cameras on the sussex police website about if you get flashed

Your licence will be endorsed with three penalty points and returned within a few days.

ok that's fair enough, you speeed you pay the price and pay the £60 fine that occurs

but....

You may wish to contest the allegation at court, which is your right. However, if magistrates find you guilty you may have to pay court costs of several hundred pounds plus up to the maximum penalty of £1000 and 6 penalty points.

surely thats against our rights we have the right to take the matter to court yet they punnish you more for it, for the same offence plus they get more money 0out of you, and they say the cameras are there for safety, what a load of s**t, just another way to scam people out of money.

if you get flashed by the Camera ask them to show you the last configuration details, chances are its probably not been done for a while so they wont be able to guarentee your speed is 100% accurate....

Not that I would know

Heh, I was walking down a busy main road in Brighton the other day and the traffic was stopped at traffic lights but an ambulance drove up the wrong side of the road (with sirens blaring) then went in front of the traffic so it was the only thing on the stretch of road and then it got flashed by the speed camera, and it made me laugh, because they just wasted film and time and effort on catching an emergency vehicle, when there's a police station and a hospital on that road so it must happen a lot.

I don't drive, so speed cameras don't really bother me, but it does seem unfair that they fine you more if it goes to court.

When you get caught speeding you will generally be offered a Fixed Penalty of 3 points and a £60 fine. However, if the case is taken to court they will decide what to do with you - they just have a greater range of punishments. For example, if you are traveling very fast (100+) you can be banned/disquallifed etc... If you elect to goto court then it is more than likely you will still be offered 3points + £60 fine + about £35 court fees - unless of course you were going something stupid.

Speed cameras are the biggest load of crap.

I can't remember details, or where it happened, but I once read on the Internet some news report about an old man on a bicycle getting flashed by a speed camera. :doubt: Good thing about this was that everyone fined from that camera since the last time it got configured received a refund of their finds, and the penalty points got taken away.

Speed cameras are a joke. :-X

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
